Hi, Jim and Samantha here on Vancouver Island. After an exhausting search for a fiberglass trailer and many near misses, we have just bought a 2004 17B from a nice couple in Chilliwack, B.C., yes, the hometown of ETI. I've already carefully cut out the linoleum to use as a template to cut the pieces for an engineered vinyl floor. We found a product called Allure, which is a very realistic looking reclaimed wood look, and its totally waterproof.

Our trailer has a toilet in the bathroom, but no shower inside (has an outdoor shower and on-demand hot water). I'm thinking of adding a wet shower and I wonder if anybody has tackled this mod. Looks like a very helpful group and we're pleased to be part of the cult, I mean group-lol.

I've got Allure in my kitchen at home. The instruction booklet says it's not for RVs and cabins. I think this is because of potential wide temperature swings. I've also seen posts by people who have used it in restorations. Problem is, I wouldn't expect them to post later that their reno didn't work out as planned.
You might want to search for Jim Bennett's thread on cork flooring that he installed in his trailer. More work, but warm.
My wife would just like me to wash the floor in our trailer.

I have a couple boxes of Allure vinyl plank in the garage that I plan to install in our 19. Several people have used it and it seems to work well.

I too used Allure in my temp trailer as well as my daughters trailer. Good stuff, and easy to install.

I would contact Escape about a shower, though not certain it is easy to install afterwards.

Allure will work, you just need to allow for some expansion and contraction. I've installed it in 3 of my campers. I use some trim around the perimeter to keep it flat and matching caulk along one side to allow the expansion. Looks great when you are completed. Here is my install #143

In 2004 the "interior shower package" was an option, but it has been standard equipment for quite a while, so few owners would have been in the position to consider adding the shower function to a stock non-shower bathroom. The supply plumbing would be straightforward, and I don't think even the drain plumbing would be particularly difficult, but the challenge would be the enclosure.

The walls of the wet bath in any Escape are moulded as two pieces (upper and lower), each of which is too large to get into the trailer through the door or window openings; they are placed inside before the top and bottom sections of the trailer's body shell are bonded together. To add it afterward would mean getting those pieces, cutting each of them in two and putting them back together after getting them in the door... or taking a different approach to waterproofing the interior of the bathroom.

Actually that is true for the 21' model but the smaller ones the bath comes in after the halfs are joined and some of the walls are in place. The baths are smaller in the 19 and 17 models.

Interesting... that would suggest that it would be possible to get the bath mouldings from Escape and rebuild the original bathroom as a wet bath - good news, and worth considering. It must be a tight fit, though - it's hard to imagine that any dimension of either the upper or lower bath shell fits in the width of the outside door.

Also, the 5.0 has a 17'-sized bath and the 5.0TA has a 19'-sized bath, so they should also come in after joining the shell.

I thought the baths in all models were placed inside before joining the shell halves.

Congratulations, I'm sure you will enjoy the 17B. Quite the number of Escape owners living the island.

Thanks to everybody for the warm welcomes and helpful info. As for the flooring, I "built" the floor on my garage floor, then cut out the linoleum everywhere the floor was going. It peeled off in one piece pretty easily and I laid it on the new floor and marked off the cuts. It dropped in beautifully and I left a bit of a gap at the edges for movement and I'll trim it out. As for the shower, from what I've seen it would be pretty challenging to get the ETI factory pieces in after the fact for all the reasons you all have pointed out. I'm thinking of getting some generic fiberglass white panels and cutting them to size and gluing them in. The pan should be an off the shelf size. I have to add a grey water tank as well. Plumbing should be the easy part. If it's not too ugly I'll post some pics later.

For what it's worth, we've used our outside shower many times more than the inside shower. If you're camping in forestry sites on the Island and provincial campgrounds, you don't have to worry about privacy.

We stand on an all-weather mat from the RAV4 to keep mud from splashing up.
