Hi everyone,

We recently found a brand new, still at the factory 2016 17B for sale. I had been watching the for sale ads closely here and on FGRV. I had subscribed to the "for sale" forum, so when the ad popped up, I literally pulled off the road while driving home from an overnight trip to Mt. Rainier and PM'd the seller on the spot. Then I contacted tammy at Escape to confirm what was posted. She emailed me photos and the build sheet on the spot, confirming that the price was exactly what it had sold for originally. I went to my bank the next day, and exactly a week later was pulling the trailer home from the border. It seemed like one of those things that was meant to be, as everything fell in place pretty quickly.

We took our first trip three days later, which was already booked, to Fort Flagler over on Puget Sound, near Port Townsend. Hopefully my pic will post below, as I'm new to this forum and how it works.

The trailer, which we call our Escape Pod (probably very un-original), is a dream. It came loaded with every option I think is available. Not what I would have probably ordered myself, but when the choice is driving all over the PNW looking at used ones or waiting over a year for a new one, I really wasn't going to complain.

I look forward to participating here, probably asking a lot of newbie questions for a long time! Thanks for reading if you made tithes far, and I hope to meet some of you out there on the road someday.

Best Regards,

Ron

PS- this is a really high res image, automatically downsized for this forum, and it looks pretty crappy here. Any suggestions on how to resize before posting that will maintain quality?

Welcome neighbour.
We are about 5 hrs away, straight north of Spokane on the Columbia river.
This forum is a wealth of great information and alsothreads gone wild. So you get the good info, the head scratching and the laughs all in one place. Looks like that first trip went well, hers to many more.

Hi John,

I know where Rossland is; I've always wanted to go there. I hear there is some great mountain biking and skiing there! Thanks for saying hello, and yes, this forum is packed with a bit of everything! I'll definitely be doing a lot of reading and learning.

Cheers,

Ron

Congrats for being on top of things.
As for pix, I don't resize mine before posting. It appears the forum software does it for me. Takes a while for a pic to upload though.

Thank you! Your thumbnail photo looks great when full size, whereas my imbedded photo is not a thumbnail and looks cruddy. I'll try to figure out how to post thumbnails next time.

Cheers!

See if I can do this. Will take two posts with four pix each.

We tow our Escape 21 with a 2005 Tundra, probably similar in power and towing capacity to your 2006 model. Without loading our truck with our usual ton of boat and fishing gear the trailer seems to hardly slow us down, though the engine works hard on steep grades. Your 17 must be a dream to tow. Enjoy your new Escape to the max!

OK, I got the thumbnail thing down. Since I'm a photo nut, you might be sorry you helped me! Here's one more from our trip to Flagler:

Thanks Bobbito! Yeah it does fantastic until the Cascade passes, but we still amble along about 55 mph up the steeper grades. Not to bad, but we do pack pretty light. If you can call three people, 3 bikes, firewood, etc light! The biggest change for me was coming from a tent trailer that had no wind drag. What amazed me the most was the suspension on the trailer, and how smoothly it pulls. Super impressed.
Have a great Canada Day long weekend!

Ron

Congratulations on your new trailer! I snagged my 5.0 the same way in March.
I hope you enjoy many years of happy travels and happy camping! Keep the pictures coming, they are great!

Hey Ron, Welcome to our little fg world. That first picture is calendar worthy, send it to Escape for next years. Getting the calendar after making a purchase is one of the reasons I keep buying new Escapes, I love the calendars.....:)

Great story Ron, wow congrats. I have relatives in your town, on Jump Off road. ESP truck accessories sells a custom dash insert that fits the tundra factory dash panel for a p3 brake controller if interested. I put one in my Tundra. It just pulls out with your hands. Credit goes a forum member here for sharing that tip. Thanks for sharing your photos :thumb: I use the free irfanview for photo resize here.
