New Member Question about rodents/mice

I think my experience should be informative...

I store my 21C at my rural home under a carport cover. Have for a few years now. In those years, I have suffered thousands of dollars of rodent damage to multiple vehicles. It's an ongoing battle. But the Escape? Untouched.

We've never had rodents enter our 21C (though we've only owned it since summer of 2024). Prior to that we had a pop up for 5 years. Both parked outdoors in our driveway. We've had mice in the garage which is directly behind the trailer, but never in either of our campers. I used to put "Fresh Cab" rodent sachets in the popup (primarily peppermint oil from what I could smell). I can't vouch for sure that they worked, but the popup never had a mouse. We also took care to make sure we thoroughly cleaned the trailer prior to winterization and removed all food items.

For added pc of mind, we have rodent damage protection added to our trailer's insurance policy.

Thanks for the info on the oil used....my nose never was good at differentiating odors (e.g., all perfumes smell the same to me....mostly alcohol! :) ) I tell me wife that I must be smell blind.....

Here's my experience with mice in the trailer: Mouse help

I found where they got in and haven't had issues since.
Ditto. We had our first rodent incursion (since we got a 2017 E21) this fall in our E23. They got in via an un-sealed tank pipe (I think gray tank) opening. The difficult part was that this particular unsealed area was directly under the shower, and reaching it to seal involved a bit of contortion and working by feel more than by sight. There was no spray foam sealing the opening, and there was more than a 1 inch (roughly 2.4 cm?) gap. Blindly working spray foam around the opening was annoying, more than it was difficult.
