Looks like I will be spending a good amount of time here, so time to introduce ourselves. We are Ron and AiRung from Fremont, CA. We just put in an order for a 19' that will be ready in May. We looked at both the 17B and 19: Thanks to Ben for showing us the 17B and Dennis and his wife (sorry -- can't remember your name!) for showing us the 19.

This will be our 3rd RV. We started with a 22' Milan trailer, then went to an Arctic Fox 990 truck camper which we recently sold. We got tired of paying for off-site storage which is expensive and inconvenient here in the Bay Area, and LEAKS that are common with stick-built RV's. With the Escape we can park it in our side-yard since it is narrower and not as tall. Also, these seem to depreciate much less so we won't worry if we don't use it that much since we are both working full time for the next 5 years.

We have a project to ski 100 ski resorts in North America called skinorthamerica100.com. We had the truck camper to be able to use in the winter and we may use the Escape for the same purpose if it goes well and looks like it can handle cold temps. We have 2 dogs: Husky and Australian Cattle dog that go with us when possible.

We tow with a 2012 VW Touareg TDI that handled our 4,500 lb larger TT easily, so the Escape will be a breeze.

Very interesting project you have!!! Welcome and congratulations!!! Stay warm!!

Well Hello, fellow Fremonteer! Sorry about work for the next 5 years, but looks like you have a heck of a plan for getting to the slopes. Congratulations on your purchase :thumb:

We are anxiously preparing for our drive to Chilliwack in 2 days. Pick Up is next week, then 3 weeks home. Have a great time with your planning and your build sheet. I'm new to this, but I'm eager to help with whatever you need.

Welcome Ron

Congrats on your purchase, you won't go wrong. Even five years from now the trailer will still be good as new. We have a 2007 5.0 and sure it's had minor issues, but no leaks!

Funny we also considered a Touareg when we first started researching trailers, the 7000 lb tow limit with the TDI was appealing but then we saw the poor quality of stick builds attending the Toronto RV. Fortunately we found FGRV and the Escape trailers, and bought ours second hand two years ago. Of course the Touareg was then out of the running for a tow since we bought the 5.0!

Steve, you will be glad you are taking 3 weeks to come home. We took 8 days and still felt hurried along.
Be sure to check out Sea Perch campground just south of Yachats, OR (mile marker 171). A bit pricey, but oh so beautiful! We got three nights for the price of two last week.

Congrats on your order!

Considering that you'll be camping near ski areas/winter camping, I think you'll benefit from the new and improved insulation used on the 2017. If you haven't already, I'd probably add the spray foam insulation underneath as well.

Thanks Maury&Julie!
Definitely staying at Sea Perch! We have 2 nights reserved there. We might be able to squeeze in 3 nights for the right price ;D
It will be our first stop after the Spring NOG in Waterloo :thumb:

Thanks everyone. Yes, we will be getting double-pane windows, extra insulation, spray foam, and maybe even the 12V tank heaters. I saw that the insulation had been improved for 2017, so that is some lucky timing for us and our project. Our Husky loves sleeping when it's cold, but us not so much :).
