new to the forum

Hello all:
Our new trailer arrived today!
It's an important step on a new stage of life for us as we had to put our 14 yr old dog down last Friday.

Quick question (the first of many, I'm sure). Any suggestions for a generator that can power our Air Conditioner/Heat Pump (Houghton 13,500 BTU)?

Many thanks,
Ben

So sorry to hear your pup crossed the rainbow bridge. That kind of loss is tough.

Do you know if your Houghton has a soft start? If so you should be able to run it with a 2000-2500 watt generator.

IMHO, a full sized truck won't need a WDH for an Escape, you're nowhere near the tongue weight levels where they are recommended. After a few longish road trips with the trailer, if you find your ride in the front seat is 'porpoising' after going over a bump or dip, and thats excessive enough to be annoying, a WDH will greatly reduce it. For these light trailers, I like the Andersen WDH/antisway setup.

We recently bought a use 2020 E19 and drove it home from New Mexico to California. We didn't use the bars for the Fastway E2 hitch. While we had no issues even with some fairly significant winds, we did notice a bit of proposing and the headlights seemed to be pointing a bit more "up" than normal. I don't have a large torque wrench and also lack a decently level area to setup the hitch properly for "my" vehicle (2013 F250 XLS 4x4) so, as soon as my new tires for the truck arrive and are installed, I'm taking the rig to a local shop to have them properly setup the hitch for my truck. (I see sloppy space between the washers on the hitch which doesn't seem at all right to me.)

Like I said above, we didn't really have any major issues without using the WDH features but I think we will notice a definite improvement once we have the hitch properly adjusted for out TV and actually make use of it.

indeed, a WDH will take all that 'porpoising' out of your ride. OTOH, I'm kind of surprised you had any with an F250, I towed our E21 with a 2002 F250 longbed diesel for many miles with a simple hitch ball, and never even noticed it on the back. With the 2019 Expedition we replaced the F250, its a definite problem and I got an Andersen WDH to fix it.
