Hi all,

My wife Cathy and I just bought a 2023 Escape 17A. We are excited to finally be owners of an RV and are looking forward to new adventures!
We are brand new to this and I appreciate that there is a resource such as this forum to help us figure out what we need to know:)
We are both 66 (Cathy is 65 for a few more weeks) and have been together forever. Cathy is retiring this spring. I will be working a few more years part time. Cathy worked as a para-educator in public schools for many years. I work as an RN in a hospital.
Our goal for this year is to take maybe 5-6 trips of 3-6 days duration.
I am impressed by the quality of Escape trailers! Also, from what I am reading, the support provided from the manufacturer sounds amazing!
I have one specific question for now. Does the seam where the top and bottom halves of the trailer need to be sealed with silicone or??? Our trailer looks like someone removed silicone as you can see a bit of residue here and there. Your thoughts would be appreciated on this. Any other suggestions for newbies would also be appreciated (I have already read my owners manual front to back).

No need to seal the "belly band" with silicone. When I wash the trailer or when I am sitting around the campsite, I like to wipe that band with some 303 Protectant on a microfiber cloth.

Congrats Karl and Cathy!

Nothing is required to maintain that seam. In the distant past there were a few cases of folks needing to seal leaking rivets under the removable center strip, but that hasn't come up here in a very long time, ETI seems (seams? ;) ) to have that under control.

Just go out and Have Fun with your new trailer! :)

It’s my understanding that the belly band is sealed on the inside with a layer of fiberglass and resin, making it essentially a “one piece” body. I don’t think there is anything to worry about. Enjoy!

Welcome to the Escape family Karl and Cathy, you're going to love your adventures ahead.
You've started your adventure with a high quality trailer that will last and be with you for years to come, plus it holds it's value, should you retire your travels you could get a good price for your Escape at that time, or you may just hand it down to a family member. Any way......enjoy....

Here is a link to a video for you to watch about how the Escape is made. Shows you how the two halves are bonded together. Enjoy the peace of mind that you have quality here.

Cheers to ya......... and Happy Trails.......... Jack
