Niagara Wine Escape 2021

Poised to make reservations as soon as March 1st gets here - just heard back from Cecilia (via email) that we can set something up then.
Aiming to stay Sept. 16-19. Yay!
I called today and she took my reservation!!
She assigned us site 43, the map shows that as a seasonal site.

Exactly what Rita said about the candy famine. I just exclaimed “ a concrete impediment to river flow!” You know the nut hasn’t rolled too ar from the tree when your less than two year old granddaughter is staggering about the house shouting “I want chocky”! Hi Ralph
This past week I’ve been humbled when my Buckeyes stumbled. Burma shave.
Stay safe and be good.

Hi: Ronn... WELCOME. When we rally the seasonals are usually back home due to the start of school. I hope this year will be somewhat usual. All we can do is plan. Alf

Guess I could just go ahead and phone, since it’s now March 1st. However, holding off on doing so, preferring to avoid international “charges” associated with the call.

Great progress, though - I DID hear back from Cecilia today via email, and she will confirm dates/get credit card info from me via phone sometime soon. She’ll make the call.

Very pleased - my first Official Escape Rally! (Of course, the Wine Country feature did not go unnoticed, when I first read about these get-togethers ... :) )

Trip

Hi again. My sister and I will be coming from Indiana. I mapped the route and we can either pay a toll or take the ferry. I assume trailers are allowed on the ferry (?). Anyone know the cost difference?

We would love to attend, though living on the central Texas coast, find the trip a bit daunting. Are there restrictions on what items can be brought across the boarder? We would like to share a few of our local brews and ferments. I'm curious how far others will travel to attend.

If we leave a month or so prior to the rally, it would become another grand adventure. . . Pat & Matt

Hi: Carmel Clown... Very little dollar difference. We've done both but I think the ferry nearest Pt. Huron Mich./ Sarnia Ont. is still out of service due to the dock damages from the icebreaker a couple of years ago. Check before you tow!!! :whistling: Alf

Hi: Steveanson... You won't be the first Texans to attend... or probably the last. That's why we hold the rally in a touristy area like the Falls!!! Lots to see and do. When the border is open to cross border travel I believe the duty free alcohol limit is 24 beers or 1 bottle 710ml. each. If you can come...enjoy the trip. Co-Vid 19 knows no border!!! :whistling: Alf

How much alcohol can you bring into Canada per person?
Alcoholic beverages
Product Metric Estimates
Wine Up to1.5 litres of wine Two 750 ml bottles of wine
Alcoholic beverages Up to 1.14 litres One large standard bottle of liquor
Beer or ale Up to 8.5 litres Approximately 24 cans or bottles (355 ml each) of beer or ale.

Last time My wife and I went in, I told the border guy we have 48 bottles of American beer. He never batted an eye when he said “No beer then eh?. I have a joke about American beer but usually don’t tell it until I’ve been drinking.

The campground is beautiful as is the entire area, we will try to make it since opportunities for meets seem to be declining.

Hi: cpaharley2008... It seems the door to Canada might just be opening a crack as we in Ontario will be allowed to start overnight camping again soon. On a personal note we are booked for our second Co-Vivid shot next week at a local Rx store. This is up from a mass vax at the local arena in Sept. Now to get the barbershop/ hair salons open. I'm almost ready for a Willy Nelson style braid!!! :whistling: Alf

HI....We booked 2nd to last site yesterday....see you all soon.....
Hi: Mario... Glad to see you got a site!!! I think due to Co-Vivid the park is still operating on a reduced number of available sites. This year I'm going to be a bit more strict in my book keeping recording names etc. We're all vaxed up with masks everywhere... just glad I'm not the "Lone a ranger". :( Alf

Hi: All... I'm looking for feelers on the Potluck for Sat. evening. How do you feel about this community event. We will be outdoors as usual but would have to share common serving utensils for the food. How safe do you think this would be?
Maybe we should just have a sat. campfire and postpone the potluck till next year. :whistling: Alf

My vote concerning a communal potluck this year is “not for us.” We have brought our own meals and joined in the circle at other rallies this summer, but we are not yet ready to share food and utensils.

Keeping an eye on the responses. We have the same concerns for Fall NOG at the end of Sept. I've rented a meeting hall and we would be inside! Arrrrgh.
