Our "Ever Thoughtful" gas utility put the natural gas line 1' deep, directly over my 6' deep water line. Guess what had to be replaced?
Oh sheesh ....that should read "Is it" Not "it is " are gas lines are never very deep , we always need to call for location markings when we do any digging up here .

Parallel to the water line? Crossing is often unavoidable, but the gas crew in our area was careful to cross other services in as few places as possible, at nearly right angles to minimize overlapping areas (and of course exposed each crossing by hand or hyrdrovac to ensure no damage).
