Oak vs maple

I debating on the interior choice. I noticed in the maple the doors seem very light compared to the backs. I was told over time these will darken down to match. I been digging threw all the photos I can find But still haven't found any that match. will these darken down. anyone have a photo? another question is for those of you with the maple do you like the acrylic panels? I kinda leaning towards Oak,but see Maple I very popular.

We have the oak interior and just love it. I think we were one of the first to be offered the maple interior last year when it came out, but we much preferred the warm uniform shade of oak throughout. Personally, I knew it would take way too long (months? years?) for me to wait for those pretty maple doors to darken and match the walls.

However, we were thrilled that they were offering more options and knew that the new maple interior would appeal to a lot of folks...especially since the oak interior had been the ONLY choice for so many years. I suggest going with whichever you think you will feel most comfortable in...and matches any other custom choices you like and want. Whichever you get, you'll probably quickly bond with it...especially when those 'ultrasound' pictures start to show up.

Every time I step into our trailer, it still feels new and exciting and am so grateful to have had so many choices in the design. We wish you the same with yours!

The maple interior option is likely too new for someone to have photos of them darker. It will take considerable time but they should darken more towards a pale honey color that will better match the rest of the wood paneling. I did some work on another owners 2019 21 with the maple interior and thought it was very nice even with the slightly contrasting color. Bear in mind that the oak cabinet faces over time don't exactly match the paneling either. I've seen them take on a yellowish gold color in our 2010. See pic.

I don’t see enough of a difference between the oak and the maple to be something I would be concerned about . Both are of better quality than the particle board cabinets used in many stick built , mass produced trailers .

Having owned 4 oak Escapes, if there were to be a number#5 it would be the maple with the dark floor and countertops and different upholstery.....

Thought I might get Maple if we changed but then I saw Ron’s in Oak and I remembered it looks nice and he got the extra Formica as before on back wall ! So I guess no reason to change ! Pat

Hello, we purchased our 21' Escape last summer and ordered the maple finish, mostly because we didn't really care for the brownish countertop and flooring that goes with the oak doors. We have the charcoal floor and countertops and we think our interior looks clean, airy and modern - really it's all down to personal taste!

Pictures don't always tell the truth so I really don't know the tone difference between the maple doors and the walls/trim. However, maple tends to yellow unless it has a stain - fruitwood perhaps - Oak will also darken over time but less yellow ..... might be worth asking if the natural maple is treated at all - darkening will be slower if treated ....or maybe that's already known?

We picked maple. We like the contrast between the maple and the dark flooring and counter tops.

Both maple and oak will be just fine. Make a choice on finish, then go make memories on the road.

Remember too that most of the cabinetry you see is not natural wood, only door and drawer fronts. These panels will not change in time, whereas the natural wood will develop a patina. Both do go darker, oak a bit more so, and yes, natural maple does develop a warm yellowish tone. I had lightly tinted maple cabinets for over 20 years in the kitchen of our previous house, and the wood looked fine.

Saw another members new 21 at Quartzite and he got the oak and it sure did look nice , better then I remember. And I believe the backsplash is important . Pat

Hi, I was wondering why also. Reason I was given was that the decision was made when the maple interior was introduced to not install backing for the installation of a backsplash due in large part to the number of customers expressing their dislike for the backsplash they were using with the oak interior. I am pondering switching to oak or making my own backsplash.
