We have the gas range option with the top burners. The oven portion is completely useless and I’d like to remove it. I’m looking at building a cabinet for a microwave or electric oven with a gas insert on the top.

Anyone done this or point me in the direction of another post?

Here’s what we did. Maybe it has some ideas for you.

We didn't want an oven in our 5.0 that was ordered new and we didn't miss it. Terry uses an Omnia oven all the time.

We now have a Bigfoot 25RQ. We've removed the oven, have a portable induction plate (2,000 watt inverter and 412 ah's of batteries) and a butane portable cooktop like we saw quite often in Europe. Terry now has a huge prep space.

We installed a 4" deep drawer on top, where the oven used to sit, and a 11" drawer underneath it. We also removed the small, shallow double bowl sink and installed a deep Houzer sink with bottom grate, a Kohler drain, and a HepvO valve replaced the p-trap.

It depends on what you want and how much discretionary money you're willing to invest. For us it was worth every penny.

Food for thought,

Perry

we use the gas oven quite a lot, for toasting things like french bread pizzas, heating frozen casseroles, etc etc. I'd hazard to say we use it more often than the stove top.

We are in the process of removing our range. It’s going to be so nice. What we are waiting for now is the matching doors, trim etc that we ordered from Escape to finish the cabinet. Escape has been very helpful. We are just going to have a cabinet. We are also replacing the cabinet latches with the magnetic ones that Escape uses so this picture was for Escape but you can see the hole under the new stove that is waiting to have the cabinet built. We also added new larger sink and new faucet.

Search the Escape Owner of America Facebook site and you can see pics of what I did. Sorry, I don't know how to link a FB post to this blog.

Wait a minute................

The cooktop can be separated from the oven and the oven portion can be removed for more space? The cooktop remains operational?

That would be glorious..........

Or is that a new / different cooktop?

I'd love to take that same approach with my E19

The Escape Owner of America Facebook group is a private group and even if you provided a link to a post, none of us would be able to view it unless we were members of that group.

Did you replace the countertop to change out the range/oven for the cooktop?

Appears the oven combos are wider than just the stovetop.........at least on my factory Suburban Elite range/oven.

We ordered a new three burner stove top from RecPro. I originally wanted a two burner but then we would need to change countertops. They removed the whole range and installed the new three burner stove top. We will have a cabinet built where the oven was. Just waiting on parts from Escape, which has not been the easiest. They have the parts and are willing to sell them to you but it’s been like pulling teeth to get them to put it in the mail.

Thanks for the reply.........If you would bear with me a bit more...

What brand / model stove / oven came out?

Which model RecPro went in?

Curious as it appears that the Suburban Elite series range / oven I have originally is a 22" wide model, and the cutout width is wider than what the RecPro calls for...............

Who is "they" that removed the original range / oven?

Thanks!

We had a Dometic three burner stove with oven.
The RecPro is RP-CT-173B. The outside measurements are 21 1/2 W, 21 D, 4 H. The RecPro fit perfectly in our cutout.
The cutout needs to be minimum 20 1/4W, 17 3/4 D, 4H
We have a place here called Paramount auto body & RV Center. So far they have done a great job putting in the stove top, new larger sink and faucet. We have been waiting for the parts from Escape for a few weeks and they are supposed to come in tomorrow and the next day. It’s nice that they will do that but it’s like pulling teeth for them to get it in the mail but everything will match.

Thanks..................

As I thought, the cutout for the unit I had from ETI (Suburban Elite Series) is around 22"ish. Appears that RecPro will not work.

"Standardization"..........NOT!

Guess I'll have to go the new countertop approach if I pursue this as I can't find a slide in stovetop that will fill the existing hole. And, I'd likely go with a 2 burner as well if I have to go that route to get some more counter space in the E19
(I already put in a larger/wider sink).

Or maybe just lay some new Formica/whatever on top of the existing counter with some wood rails to support the new stovetop.....................Hmmmmmmmmm..............

Thanks again!

Enjoy your new kitchen!
