Ours worked great until last year when all those retiree's had purchased so many new campers that the campgrounds where they worked best (Rusty's in New Mexico, for instance) stopped honoring them during the period of the year when we like to camp (in our case, Febuary/March in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah).

We let our subscription lapse.

We use it some when we’ve been without hookups for a while and want to clean up or when we can’t find a public, non private, park around where we want to stay. I bought a lifetime many years ago because we travel a lot. On their website, you can see parks by state. That might help you decide. Some PA parks do have restricted days or times of the year.

Some PA parks do have restricted days or times of the year.

Last year a number of PA parks had restrictions at the time we wanted to camp, whereas the years before they usually just restrited weekends and holidays.

I have lots of opinions. Occasionally some of them don't create a storm of controversy. Passport America paid for itself on this recent trip to the Southwest.

For what it's worth, our Lifetime membership to PA paid for itself in the first 18 months. If you like rv parks instead of dispersed camping, it's not a bad deal. My only beef is that some of the member parks place ridiculous restrictions on the discount. I usually skip those.

Just be aware, there are two different Passport America businesses. Totally separate and different. It was a family feud that split it. One is.............

Somewhat like the Aldi stores which The brothers split the company in 1960, over a dispute about whether they should sell cigarettes.

Anyhow, just thought you might want to know, so you stick with the same one you started with (or not).

We relied on PA on a cross country trip a few years ago. Both of the stops we booked based upon desirable PA descriptions were dumps. We did not renew.

If you travel a lot, and are just looking for an overnight, it's worth it in my opinion. Have visited very few that I would care to spend much time in. Lots of varying restrictions, buried in the fine print of park descriptions. We didn't renew when our three year membership expired.

We have always had good luck with KOA campgrounds, clean and easily accessible while traveling. Just suggesting another alternative....

Some PA’s are not nice, some are great. Some have stringent restrictions on PA use, some have no restrictions. Mostly we find them okay. We don’t often stay in private parks, and not always PA. Often they are lower cost, but sometimes, other private parks are cheaper. Usually we stay in public parks like COE and USFS.

KOA is very good, but they are expensive.
