Patandlinda Escape modifications

I did coat it with Bondo fiberglass resin, thinking that would make the plywood bullet proof. Wrong. Looking now to do what you done but-- not at Kxkzren prices.

Having a ton of f.g. experience years ago I figured that I'd end my sundeck maintenance once and for all by laying down a a couple of layers of glass and flood coating it with a colored resin. Did that twice :banghead: and a friend's once before I gave up on depending on f.g. to forever keep the wood safe. Even though it's rolled out and flood coated it seems like there's always pinholes somewhere. Now my vinyl deck has seen many years of service that the decking is still solid.

Even when moisture doesn't get to damage the wood then UV will. Now I use an epoxy sealer and paint it.

Fiberglass resin tends not to bond very well to wood. Next time, use a WEST method....Wood Epoxy Saturation Technique. They build boats with it, sailboats, canoes & kayaks, motorboats to boot. Locally, some minesweepers for the US Navy were made of plywood & used it through out construction. They're still wooden boats, those minesweepers, as they need to be.
Same stuff used for wind turbine blades, tons of other uses. Search for WEST Systems. There are other brands, but epoxy is often & best used with wood as it tends to penetrate into the wood fibers for good bonding.
But it needs to be top coated with varnish or paint as like most everything, as it is UV sun exposure degraded over time.

do not understand used to make fish tanks using resin inside the wood tanks to keep water in the tanks looked like treasure chests with window cut outs with glass silicone sttachment later dig up pics we always used glass mats though Pat

A quibble

Resin alone, and resin with glass mat may make a significant difference. With resin & mat, you make a bathtub like watertight structure. With resin alone, you only coat a surface.

I ain't no expert on this, but it's what I've seen with others efforts and mine.

YMMV

Ever leaked
YMMV

Could be it then made a lot of those fish tanks and they never leaked ! Pat
