Ron & Deborah Zinsmeister here. New to Escape Trailers but veteran RVs.
We are anxiously waiting on the completion of our 2018 5.0TA .
Here are some build photos. We are picking up on Jan 22!
Our plan is to leave Texas on 1/17, go thru Albuquerque make a stop at Arches National Park, Salt Lake City, Boise, Yakima, Chilliwack. Pick up the trailer and head down to the 101 at Astoria. Making several stops on 101, including Redwood NP. Head from San Francisco to Death Valley NP then onto Joshua Tree NP. Any advise is much appreciated. :)

Good for you! You must be excited. It will be done in no time now. May you have many fine trips in your new Escape.

I had heard Arches was doing a bunch of construction over the winter, I believe the campground is closed, don't know how much of the rest of it is.

we are so excited, Thank you!
Thank you Bob, I will look into that. We were planning on staying in Moab, since we won't have the Escape yet.

Sounds like you might be right on the path for the Quartzsite gathering with the new rig.

Cape Disappointment State Park (WA) across the Columbia River from Astoria and South Beach State Park just south of Newport, OR are both very fine larger parks. If severe weather with high winds happens I would not recommend camping in the coastal campgrounds! The winds off the ocean can be up to 100 mph! Another nice park is Silver Falls State Park just east of Salem, OR, in the Cascade foothills. Incredible waterfalls, some of which you can walk behind.

We are scheduled to pick up our 21 on the 17th. There is 5.0 sitting just behind ours in the photos and I wonder if that is yours.

Nancy

Be aware that there is a landslide waiting to happen near Yakima. Evacuations have been ordered and a major highway could potentially be closed as a precaution.

Second the vote for Silver Falls. It's a nice spot.

Coming south from the Redwoods to San Francisco, there are a lot of good state parks on the coast. McKericher, etc. Bodega Bay (Doran Campground) is on the coast just a bit north of SF--a lovely park but you may want to check reservations as your dates get set--during the week might not be a problem but weekends fill up in some places regardless of season. No hookups there.

When heading south from San Francisco, be aware that hwy 1 is closed til summer, or later, at Big Sur. So plan to head south on 101 or some alternate route to avoid that section.

As you head east, there's a nice park in Bakersfield if you're looking for a pull in at dinner and out in the morning...a little pricey but very nice folks, great facilities, and a good restaurant on site, for which you get a discount coupon. Bakersfield RV Resort on Wible road.

FYI: RE: San Francisco. If you're planning on traversing the Golden Gate bridge, the toll is southbound, and you'll have 2 extra axles.

Our past route has been to stay on US-101S at Leggett, and cross over to I-5 via CA-20, or at Geyserville, go SE through Calistoga, St.Helena, and Napa, then catch I-680 to circumvent the SF bay and its traffic.

bridge tolls are generally in the counter-clockwise direction around SF bay.

Edit: our favorite Redwood camping spot is Patrick's Point SP, but don't tell anyone.

......and, they give you two fresh baked cookies at check in :greetings:

Thank you everyone for your information! Looks like we maybe changing our route. I'll have to check out everything you all mentioned!
