Lee valley tools has spring loaded tablecloth clips for thicker tables, they work really well.

I went to a fabric store and purchased a length of vinyl upholstery fabric for my table cloth. It is heavy so it doesn't blow off and it doesn't have that fuzzy backing that picks up so much trash. I wash it in the washer occasionally and when at the campsite it wipes clean like the "oil cloth " tablecloths.

Yep! We use oil cloth and I love it. It is durable and cleans up nicely. I picked up mine at a local fabric store.

I did not think so either Pat, and went looking. It seems almost all fabric sold as tabletop oilcloth is actually vinyl coated cotton. It is still touted as a great product, that looks and wears well. It sounds like it has been many years since real French oilcloth was made, though there might be a few manufacturers out there still.

Thanks Jim . I am going to look at the fabric store . The vinyl table clothes are so thin . I use to have to bring a piece of oil cloth to school for my desk . Enjoyed the write up too . Pat

We carry a rectangle tablecloth, don't use it much but when we do it is usually folded in half as there are only the 2 of us. Somewhere along the line someone recommended using bungee cords wrapped around the table, they fit any thickness of table. Got em along all the time anyway.
