Pop-out knobs for the Escape External Shower

Nice idea. We hated those knobs on our outside shower. Order a set. Thanks for making them.

I fly out to Seattle for a week on Thursday. In looking at our schedule it's probably too tight to do a local pick up. I'll just order it instead! Great idea.

Awesome!

I was in charge of turning the outside water spout on and off last outing, and I don't care for the standard handles either. It took me all of 10 seconds to order one of the remaining two pairs. Only one pair remaining....tick tock tick tock...:)

Well done brjohnso.

Just ordered a set from you a moment ago. Didn't look like you had many sets left. Looks like you'll have to be starting up another batch.

Thumbs up to your wife....... after all she did this to you and you know you'll have to give her a cut of the proceeds..... lol lol lol...

Cheers to ya.......... and Happy Trails......... Jack

Seems like people really like these! I am printing more, but I can only create about 5 sets a day. The listing should be active again.

I'd order if I had an outside shower! Yep, there's 19 sets in carts. Great cottage industry you've created out of a need :thumb:

My wife was complaining about the control knobs on the external shower of our 21NE. She says they pinch her fingers. So I designed and printed these pop-out control knobs using our 3d-printer. They work great. I printed some extras and put them on Etsy if anyone else would like to try them. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1746911312/pop-out-faucet-knobs-for-external-rv

Just got mine yesterday and went to install it this morning. Unfortunately my shower nobs go on a splined shaft, see photo. Totally bummed because this is such a great idea. Don't know if there is a way to modify these or not. My pea brain is working on ideas but nothing definitive. I purchased a spare shower faucet because I thought I might have stripped the supply line threads and it's the same. This is the faucet:

I feared that Escape might have done something like that in the past and switched these around. In my Etsy listing, I included pictures of the original knobs (front and back side) so people could compare. You can see that that my original knobs have six flutes, and it looks like yours have three, so that's an easy way to tell if mine will fit.

I'll try and make a new version that will fit on the splined shaft you have. It's great that you found the exact one on Amazon. I'll order one of those fixtures, and then make a pop-out knob to fit it. I'm selling enough of these that I can fund some R&D. You will have to be the Beta Tester.

Thanks Bruce, In my exuberance I didn't notice that distinction until I started looking at the different faucets out there. I sort of have ideas on how to modify the ones I got, which would require modifying the valve stem. Don't know much about 3D printing or if printing a spline is even possible.

Anyway thanks for the effort and I'd be happy to be a beta tester. If you have success with a new version, I'd be happy to return the set I got, my expense, so you can resell them.

I think there are some other RV brands that have the same messed-up design that Escape uses for their outdoor shower. Campers in particular seem to use that fixture. Making multiple versions of the pop-out knob might broaden the market for this quite a bit. I was thinking these pop-out knobs would be something only a handful of people would use, but maybe the market for this is bigger than I thought? The fixture I ordered will be delivered tomorrow, and I'll be able to make some measurements and start designing. I would avoid modifying your valve stem for now. Lets see if I can make one that fits first.

I'm another person that didn't see your pictures, my bad. If you design a pop up for the three sided handle I'm in for a buy.

I won't be doing any mods until I see what you come up with. FYI the faucet sold by Amazon under the name Valterra is made by someone else. It's possible they source their stuff from different vendors. I'm heading out next week and should be back around the first so if I go silent, that's why. If you need my address I can message you.
thanks,
Sherby

If you got one that didn't fit because you have a splined shaft/three-flute knob, just shoot me a message on Etsy and I'll send you a prototype to try.
