Potential new owner- Questions

I've thought about it over the weekend, and I doubt any TT would see -10 (unless we're caught by surprise). I think we'll not worry so much about frigid weather. If it calls for that I'll just take my tent and winter bag or sleep in the back of the truck.

The rough roads are still an issue. That occurs whether I'm boondocking or not- there are stretches in eastern Montana that are miles of unpaved roads, and I take those quite a bit.

That's something I will talk to Escape about.

Decided this morning we're going to go back to the future with a 10x14 canvas tent. We used canvas prior to the truck camper and already have cots/stoves and outfitter gear. Maybe in the future I'll buy a four-wheel truck camper for the Tacoma.

Need to be a bit more mobile and I'm not sure we would see enough use out of a tt to justify $25K+ in cost.

One of my brothers has a Four Wheel Pop-Up Camper on his F150 and really likes it. He went for a camper so that he could also pull his boat when they go camping at lakes for fishing. He also wanted a camper that was durable for off-road use to get to the fishing and hunting spots he likes to visit.
The Four Wheel Camper sounds like a good fit for you and your camping style. Enjoy.

I loved our canvas tent but we really camped in another much lighter tent. Just can't really do tents anymore. But you enjoy your tenting!

Ahhh- to be young again. You might see our son out there if you wander onto a section of the Pacific Coast Trail. He started 4/2 and is approaching the Southern Sierra.

Oh yeah! Here was the main tent in Boulder MT before that blizzard hit..






When it was below zero and someone opened the door this one guy would scream "More BTU's boys!!!"

I hope we can see an Escape in person at some point. It would be a handy thing during bird season with my wife and the dogs…

Escapes 5th wheel is not the lightest Escape, it may be relative to other brands but it is the heaviest Escape made.

Hi: wardb1... cpaharley2008 is right. As Escapes go the 5.0TA is their heaviest trailer... but as 5th wheel trailers go it is a light weight!!! It is very towable by 1/2 ton pickups, contrary to some opinions, and we tow with one of the lightest 1/2's on the market. Both 5.0's we've owned were designed for the mid size truck market and are easily towed in all situations. Alf

This was 30 miles of totally barren road over dirt and dips in Utah I wish I didn't take, a few months ago. But, my 19 took it very well. Only had to turn on the 4WD a couple times. I always secure the doors, nothing inside went flying.
