Price Increase

One thing that's not clear is when does the price increase apply? Does it apply to those who have already put down a deposit for a 2016 model (that would be unfair) or just for those planning on a 2017 model? If the latter, the increase is meaningless at the moment since you can't even order one yet so why not wait to announce the price increase until the new feature set is ready to be announced?
As we understood it, once we signed our final build sheet, any price increases after that didn't affect us. We hurried to sign it, and only incurred a $50.00 increase on one item. Whew!

Methinks a bit of patience is required. Sure, the price increase is up, and the details for changes have yet to be revealed, but you can't even place an order anyway. I would bet that by the time orders open up again for the improved Escapes, all the changes will be known.

The way I understand it if you have a 2016 model on order the base trailer price will never go up, but the options can increase in cost till you sign the build sheet. Looking at the way ETI does business I am sure the increase was justified. I too feel sorry for the Canadian buyers since the increase surely is due to the difference in the Canadian dollar and the US dollar.

That makes sense.

While the increase is steep, it's still not a bad deal for US buyers. If I were currently in the market, it wouldn't put me off. $30,300 CAD for a 19 comes to about $21,500 USD for example - still a good deal.

Our base price was $25,500 CAD, and our final price with options was $35,005 CAD. Do the math and you'll find that even with the price increase, a new 19 with the same options would go for about $28,400 USD - about what we paid anyway in 2015.

I thought the price wasn't nailed down until it's paid in full. There's some fine print to that effect.

Your base price won't go up once you've made your deposit - unless that's changed too. Options sometimes do increase, until you've signed the build sheet. ETI has always been pretty good about that. Not sure about the fine print.

I assume that this increase is for 2017's yet to be ordered, not orders already in, right?

I wrote to Sarah last night to ask if this would have affected our trailer if the build sheet hadn't been signed. I'll update when I get her reply.

I'm assuming it's for 2017 trailers. But never assume!

Here's what's on our build sheet, that was just signed off on within the past few days:

Prices are subject to change without notice. Escape Trailer Industries reserves the right to change the price of an option based on market fluctuations. The customer will be notified of all changes when they come into effect. Once a Build Sheet is Confirmed, the Options Price List becomes fixed.

Which, just to keep things in perspective, is about what I paid for my 17B (with just about every option they offered at the time) in April, 2011. At that time the Canadian $ was worth $.01 more than the US $.

I didn't hear anybody complaining as the Canadian dollar tanked and ETI got squeezed by U.S. component supply.
Just say'n. :ermm:

Just called Escape Trailers and confirmed our 19 ft. trailer on order for September of 2016 will remain at the previous base price when ordered and deposit confirmed. The base price increase applies to new orders (2017) only.

Squeezed? That's the way the capitalism ball bounces in the global economy. Money follows value.

Yep, what I was just told. And there will be more info coming shortly from them, so stay tuned.

With our stocks all cratering, and bonds returning next to nothing, who knew that our only rising investment would be our Escape 21? And the thing is even fun to own!

All this whining ! For our 19 29,260 USD total with starting base 24,000 CAD in 2013. Pat

Increases are in CAD, and justified not just by supply and demand.

Yup the cost of producing the trailers has jump greatly due to the poor performance of the Canadian Dollar.

I actually do not understand those to the south grumbling about the increase in price as due to the current state of the Canadian Dollar a party with US dollars is still going to be paying less for a new trailer than they would have a year ago.

Heck, I'd just like to be on a list with a deposit paid!! Waiting......checking website.....waiting.....checking website....
