quick propane / grill question

I've got a few trips now with my Q1200/Baby Q, converted to use the low pressure quick connect. I bought an aftermarket griddle for it. It worked well as both a grill and griddle. We did steaks, corn, asparagus, sausage, pancakes, and bacon over the course of a couple of meals. It handled all of it well. The griddle is a very useful addition.

I have the Weber Q1200 and the Blackstone 17 and a two burner stove.

The Blackstone comes on every trip. It lives above the propane tanks. I also got the side panels because the one flaw of the Blackstone is a side breeze. It can cut down the heat and take it away before it ever hits the griddle.

The Q1200 lives in the back of the truck to keep the grease way from the camper. Two 5# propane tanks are strapped to the side rails. The Q1200 comes on most trips, not all.

The two burner stove only serves as backup. I have used it only once.

I use propane tanks for all sorts of things. So I keep a couple around. I do not mix appliances with camper propane. It is easy to carry an additional small tank and it always gets used. We travel with a small table.

The Weber Q also has an optional half size griddle.
Steak and egg breakfast cooked at the same time!

I like a good Pork sausage patty with a couple eggs over and break the yolks. If the sausage isn’t giving up enough grease to keep the eggs from sticking it’s just about right. I’m not much on heavy grease anymore these days. I open a pound of bacon about once a month and eat it in four or five days and that’s about all the meat I have at breakfast or if I buy some pork sausage I'll have that and be done for some weeks again. I use a griddle on the camp stove most of the time for
Breakfast. I store it in my plastic tub with the Weber Q. I have the split grills for the Q both open grates.
Mostly for burgers, chicken, steak or pork chops. I like to fix several drumsticks at once and eat some of them the next day at lunch cold. Had some Salmon on the big Weber at home the other night. It was tasty.
I’ve been getting a sealed/ marinated port loin (the true tenderloin) which weighs about a pound and a half cooking it on either the Weber or the Q and slicing it for medallions. The ones from Trader Joe’s are good.

My vote goes to the Weber baby Q. Came with a regulator which I removed, so I could connect to the quick connect from the trailer regulator at the tanks.

We have the same setup and love it!:confetti: :confetti:

Can you tell me more about the side panels for your Blackstone adventure Griddle. I have one one order and have been wondering about if I should have ordered the model with a lid but it seems that would not fit in the back access hatch. thinking to also order the carry bag. Everyone seems so pleased with the Blackstone and just setting up our new E19. I don't have a truck so I am trying to keep everything contained within the trailer. Hoping to setup one drawer of the milk cartons under the bed as well. Thanks.

Get yourself a truck, it will come in handy even when not camping......:)

Sure! There are actually three. They cover the two sides and rear. They do work very well.

There are a few different versions by different manufacturers. Here is the one I settled on. They stay on pretty well, but they just hang in place. Simple.

Thanks for the link, found several types on Amazon Canada.

My wife is still not convinced I'll be able to cook a good steak on the Blackstone but I guess that's my fault cause I have perfected them on the our Weber Grill at home. The Blackstone seems to be the only solution however for being able to fit into the storage hatch.

Tell your wife that I will be cooking scrapple on the Blackstone for sampling/tasting at Osoyoos! Bring your own steaks.....:)

I don't see anyone mentioning the Napoleon TravelQ grill series. Upon researching portable propane BBQs, we got one of these and are /very/ happy. it has two burners, so you can do 'indirect' cooking. Since we have a pickup, and we also have a cheap propane firepit, we bring a spare 20 lb propane bottle (that firepit can really use a lot of gas!)

The Napoleon has two basic models, and they come with or without a permanently attached 'scissors' cart.. We opted for the 285X model with the cart. There's a "Pro' model thats black and has a little deeper cover, it too comes tabletop or with a scissors cart.

(note the red version also comes with a griddle that replaces one half of the grill)

(very easy to roll away...)

I have the Pro model, sans cart.
It rides in the aisle of the trailer during travel and since it is first out at camp, I don't need a storage box or pickup bed for it.
