and do not forget the stove vent which can be lodged open to allow fresh air and not rain to enter, I use a clip to keep it open and then turn on the ceiling fan for a breeze.

And there's also the bathroom vent.

We have the window maxx vents . Ours work as advertised ,do not leak and as far as looks, function over form prevails in my world .

We have the opening awning type window in our trailer door and with the trailer awning only partially extended the rain would pretty much have to come sideways to get in . We have that window open almost all the time - in all weather . It is also the first thing we shut when packing up because if left open and if the door were to open suddenly the open awning window "could " hit the awning arm and be damaged . Would not want to be without that opening window .

I never even knew that was an option, Gabi. It probably wasn't when I bought anyway. I would MUCH rather have that one operate, then the one at the galley.

If you must have a window open and have a bathroom window, open the bathroom door, open that window. At least if it gets wet inside, it's contained in an area designed to get wet.

That's a good point, Donna. And if a lot of water blows in, there's a drain. I knew there was a reason my wife wanted a window in the bathroom.

Not necessarily... I created three individual awnings with NO holes. You can search for the thread "latest mods" or look on our website. They hold up well in the rain and keep it from coming in the slider.

Don't know if we have the tools or smarts to do them. The ones of the Bluebonnet folks look great, too.

They REALLY are easy to make...we did it and it is probably our favorite addition (next to the digital thermostat).
If you have a sewing machine and can sew a straight line you have it made! Our material was canvas so we needed a heavy duty sewing machine but you could use thinner fabric and be fine. The rails go up easily with he 3M Molding Tape and the pvc pipe is easy to cut and glue the suction cups onto. you can make the awning plainer (no fringe) at it works just as well.


You DO take them completely down (everything but the track) for travel.

Although they have survived storms, traveling would pull them off. No, they come off in seconds and roll up. Look at the website if you haven't. Simple sewing and simple PVC work. The real break through was awning track and awning rope from Sailrite. Check the website and if you still have questions send a PM. I'd be glad to walk you through their construction.

I was right, Fran and Dave, we don't have the tools or the smarts. No sewing machine here and the only sewing I do is very rare by hand. No doubt the material can be sewn by hand though.

What do you cut the PVC with? Have to have a place to put them and they would only be used in certain weather and when staying a while. Would have to have a good place to store them.

We're thinking of going out this weekend, too. Waffling between Cape Disappointment and Fort Worden State Parks. Belfair is nice, too, and closer... but we're going there this summer. The coast will be 5 degrees warmer than Ft Worden (so say the interwebs), but (for us) Ft Worden is an hour closer. Hmmm. Tough decision!

We're camping at Ike Kinswa State Park just off exit 68 on I-5 this weekend (just Sunday and Monday nights though)! It's close and pretty, and it's my 35th birthday on Monday so I wanted to do something special. Husband has Monday and Tuesday off because of a weird fluke in the school year calendar.

Dang you guys, are killing us! Ft Worden and Cape D are 2 of our favorites! Although we are going to Cannon Beach next week and we have reservations at Cape D the first week of April. Dave dewinterized the trailer and we are ready to roll. Have any of you Washington folks camped at Rainbow Falls State Park? Thought it might be cool to go there when the fuschias are blooming...

We haven't camped at Rainbow Falls because we went and checked it out once. How do I say this nicely... It's one of the state parks that the lack of funding has basically killed! They never rebuilt the bridge connecting the two sides of it and the camping area is pretty bad in comparison to many other parks (Ike Kinswa and Grayland for example). I'd skip it!!

Uh - Last time I was at Rainbow Falls was over 50 years ago - mom, dad, 6 kids and a fox terrier in a canvas army surplus wall tent . My little sister caught a nice trout with a hand line tied to a stick my dad cut for her & I got skunked
