Hi, we just joined the forum and can see how valuable it will be. We are looking into the Escape 21 and also the 5.0. We live in central Texas and are looking forward to seeing the rest of the country. And of course Canada.

Welcome aboard. :)

Lots of great threads here on various things Escape for you to peruse. Ask away with any queries you may have too. You can find a bunch of Escapes in Texas now for viewing if you wish.

Welcome aboard Redandnan, lots of information and especially choices to make. Hope you enjoy the process, the people here are very helpful.

In response to the title of your thread......Wise Choice!
Retirement is NOT overrated!

Thanks, Jim. We are just beginning this journey but really are excited to see one soon. The photos are nice but I'm betting don't do justice to the real thing.

The Senior Member designation is related to the number of post you make on this site.

Thanks for the welcome Marry. Is it rude to ask what the Senior Member beneath your name means?

JohnB answered this question already for me, but it's basically that I am too much hooked to this forum:). You will love it too!!

OMG! Welcome to the group! As DonnaD mentioned, the Bluebonnet Rally will be April 19-23 in Bandera Tx and there will be at least 12 Escapes including two 2017 21' models. Even if you don't sign up for the rally, come by anyway and we will be happy to show you our little house.

Hope to see you there!

Welcome Redandnan! and Alf, looks like your march up the Natchez Trace is at 'double time'!

Was fortunate enough to retire at 50. Its been ten years now, it goes fast! This year we are committed to more experiences, and less everything else. Retirement "phase II" starts in May.

Fifth wheel versus 21 footer. Tough choice there. We had a fifth wheel years ago (not an Escape). We really liked the separate sleeping area, makes a trailer almost into two rooms. And of course, you get use out of every foot, no losing space to a hitch.

On the other hand, we seem to always using the bed of the truck for something. Giving up the bed was pretty close to a deal breaker.

There really is no wrong answer. And no decision is "permanent". Well maintained and lightly used Escapes are easy to sell. So you are not "stuck" whichever way you go.

Hi Alf,

Drove the Natchez Trace last year with my Sister in law from Kosciusko, MS to Nashville. What a laid back beautiful drive! Love the bumper sticker on your rig: "I go where I'm towed!"

I'm so bummed out that we won't make it to Bluebonnet this year! Our Casita will be there, but with her new owner. Too far for day trip and a hassle with two dogs. Plus there are no rooms in town. Oh well, I know everyone will have a great time.
