My camper is in the shop and, while there, I was hoping to have a new RV Backup camera system installed. My current system is an older Furrion. However, I am overwhelmed with all the new systems, reviewing ratings and watching YouTube videos. Does anyone have any thoughts/recommendations/reviews? Thank you

I’ve been happy with the haloview MC10 and BT10. We have the one where the display goes over the rear view mirror.

We replaced our Furrion camera with the Auto-Vox WF4 three camera wireless system which is a definate upgrade over the Furrion system. The system has a rear camera, that directly replaced the Furrion camera and two side cameras that replace the front marker lights on the sides of the trailer. Electrically, the rear camera just plugs into the existing Furrion play and the side cameras splice into the existing marker light wires. All of the cameras were very easy to install, taking minutes.

The display is much superior to the Furrion one, it is easily readable in daylight where the Furrion was not. It is very nice to be able to see if anything is on the sides of the trailer if wanted (display can show all three cameras or just one). The resolution of the cameras is at least as good as the Furrion and the image transmission is very good, with no lag. The system also allows you to record the video on an SD card in case there is a need.

Thank you. Will check it out!

I second @shocksll

We have been very happy with ours.

Haloview has 2 rear view mirror mount models which look identical. The only difference between the two is that one comes with a signal "extender" & the other one does not.

We did not need the signal "extender" with our 5.0TA. I believe ours is a Haloview MC10.

It supports 1 camera at a time. We bought a Haloview License Plate Cam, so when not towing we still have the use of a rear camera. People are crazy these days when they drive!

We also purchased a Haloview Handy Cam that is a wireless rechargeable camera with a magnetic base that we could set on top of the truck temporarily to see when hooking up the 5.0TA or loading truck camper.

Both the Handy Cam & License Plate Cam work with the MC10 mirror monitor. They just need to be "paired" with the mirror monitor when switching to a different camera. Not a big deal.

We had already purchased the Haloview system for use with our 2018 SS-550 Palomino pop-up soft sided slide-in truck camper.

When we sold the SS-550, we removed our camera system to use it on our "new to us" 2023 5.0TA.

The 5.0TA already had the Furion system.

We didn't care for that system, thus we replaced it with our Haloview system. It was a very easy swap.

This guy does a fairly good job explaining the details of our rear view camera system.

I am using this one for our 17B - Amazon.com: EWAY Strong Magnetic Wireless Backup Camera for iPhone Android, WiFi Hitch Camera Rechargeable Battery for Hitch Gooseneck Travel Boat Horse Trailer Truck Camper RV Front Rear View Reverse Back up : Electronics
Not perfect, and I only use it when parking. I guess I could use it when driving, too, but I would need to secure it with something other than magnets. Those are very strong, BTW. I have not tested how long the charge lasts but it's just a camera with RF so should be ok for 3-4 hours, I guess.
No extra screen needed, I just use my phone.

I bought a cheaper one (Amtifo) from Amazon because the Furrion just quit working. The camera is OK but it doesn't transmit voices like the Furrion did and I regret not getting a camera with that feature. I should have spent more.

One of the comments suggested this had a lot of glare at night. What has been your experience? TBH I avoid towing at night anyway.

These days, we try to avoid driving at night period.

When we do drive at night, it's not with the camper.

With the License Plate cam, yes there is glare at night. It seems like the camera is pointing directly at headlights behind us.

Since we don't drive that often at night, we haven't played with adjusting the cam angle on the license plate yet, which might help.

If the glare is too bothersome, we can shut the cam off (by unplugging it from the 12v receptical) & use it like a regular rear view mirror.

I know that defeats the purpose of having a front & rear cam so unplugging it usually doesn't happen, but it's an option.

For the camper, the Camper cam is much higher up than the License Plate cam, we don't tow at night with the camper, so can't speak to that.

It's really nice when towing to be able to look where you normally look to see behind you.

The Furion which came with the camper, the image quality was not that good and had a monitor on the dash.

It was so frustrating to look at the rear view mirror & not be able to see behind you & then have to look at the monitor on the dash.

I know there are a lot of folks who use the cams with monitors on the dash, that's just not our preference.
