Refrigerator "dust"

Okay, so may it just violates my teutonic sense of order but the outside vent door to the back of the refrigerator sure lets in a lot of dust and debris. Only had our Escape for a month and it's already in need to a good vacuuming. When we get onto some dirt roads this weekend, I'm sure it will get worse very quickly. Sure, I know it's camping and I don't want to be vacuuming out all the cubbyholes every week either. A filter would be a good solution.

Anyone out here use a filter over the vent slots in the door? I'm thinking like the type of filter material used for kitchen venting fan. I could stick it on with double sided tape. At the same time, I'm concerned about blocking off needed ventilation, with what I'm reading on the Forum about refrigerator cooling properly.

Thoughts?

My solution is just not to look in there. ;D

Actually, I do go through these compartments once a year and clean, usually when putting it away for the winter. I have not really noticed much of a layer of dust though, and we do travel a fair bit on gravel and dirt roads.

Haven't considered a filter, though anything with small enough pores to stop dust would likely negatively affect ventilation.

I have glued a stainless steel screen on the inside of all the vents in out 5.0 They won't keep out the dust (but hey, what's a little dust among friends?), but the screens keep out the mud dauber wasps who build their nests in every tube (chimney, vent, etc.) they can find.

Great suggestion.. forgot about the nesting issue.. time to check out my vents..

I could post a pic.. but I hate to see what happens.. eh?

Where did you get them, and what did you glue them on with?
