Rotate range top or not?

2015 17A here: I just went out and measured: 17A is same as 17B from the right-side kitchen bulkhead (wall by bath on 17 over. We have the 2 burner, and only use one or the other burner. Won't ever need a 3rd burner.
The stove cover is 18½" long dim. x 13-3/4" short dim., so we gained about 5 inches of counter space by rotating. there's 3¼" clearance to the right-hand bulkhead.
If you like counter space then we recommend rotating.

I rotated it on my 17B and I now have it rotated on my 19. I would recommend. I have a 2 burner stove and have never used more than one of the burners at a time. It gives more space between the sink and the stove which is the most valuable counter real estate for my purposes.

I was in my sister's motor home for the first time this last weekend and the interior was very similar to our Escape except for one thing. It had a 4 burner stove and a rather large double sink which left absolutely no counter space. Loren

Not sure if you have it on your build sheet, but the counter extension on the left side of the sink is more valuable space than what you may gain by rotating the stove.
You could do both, of course.

Looking at the pic of the two-burner rotated, with the cover and wing open, it appears you gain a narrow strip of counter space between the sink and the stove. You lose access to the space along the outside wall and the side wall ( where I keep my knives ).

You might be able to save some of that side wall space by not having the stove cover installed.
We're having the stove rotated in our 19 and and not having the cover attached. Not so much for the space but because I'm planning to make a cutting board cover, and didn't want the screw holes in the counter top. Which, by the way, I never would have known about without Laura's pictures.

Doing over, I too would eliminate the stove cover and adapt a cutting board for the burners ( and I'd only have two ). The cutting board can be moved to sit on the bed / dinette while using the stove, or you can take it outside for prep.
And, I'd have the counter extension that you can see on the left of the pic in post #26 ( above ).

I think I'll be sticking with the original position. I'm short and I'm kind of concerned about reaching across one burner to get to the other - not keen on catching a sleeve on fire or knocking over a pot on the closer burner.

If you get the oven is it attached to the stove like a home oven? So you have to get three burners ? Or is the stove top a separate unit and you can get the two burners and turn them if you like?

If you get the cover that comes with it, there is the side thingie, which should help.

PS, Rich, congrats on upgrading! Dirk and I still remember your 19 from when we viewed it last year while we were trying to decide which trailer to get. Lots more room for you two and the kitty. Yay!

We're not getting the stove cover for the same reasons stated above. This place has been mentioned before on this forum for getting custom cutting boards from and I was wondering if anyone has done so and can supply a photo.

And I just realized that's one thing I did forget to measure - what exact size I would need for the cutting board. Guess I'm taking my measuring tape up when I go up Friday to hand over stuff for the trailer build. I shall post that to this thread when I get 'em.

Hi Kate,

The oven and stove are all one unit. There is no two burner option and nothing can be rotated.

One extra benefit of the stove burners is that they have piezoelectric ignition. (Just the stovetop, not the oven which has a pilot.)

That is what we thought. Of course, it is a bad idea to wear sleeves while cooking. I am often in sleeves! We don't have ours turned.

It is a good option to turn it in the 19, but I wouldn't have wanted it turned in our previous 17.

Only 169 hits on Etsy, as of a few minutes ago, when searching for "cat cutting board". So, yeah, there's a few of 'em out there. ;D

But I don't want one shaped like a cat. Goodwill got a donation from me of one shaped like a coyote that was far more decorative than useful.

Gee thanks, Alf. The purple just might go with the fabric, but royal blue will coordinate with purple just fine. Oooo, problem solved - one of each! And the one I don't use in the trailer will get used in the house. ;D

Had confirmation today from sarah that in the new 17b the stove rotation is now standard. One less thing to think about!
