So big sale on the Gen 3 Starlink in Canada at the moment.

With a 12V conversion it looks like they run about max 50W in practise with around 2A current draw.

Looking to purchase the Roaming option. I'd like to have it available on my truck as well for when we're out and about, and not by our trailer.

Wondering on the having it mounted on my truck roof, running it off the 400W AC inverter I have in my truck whilst out and about, but switching over to a long 12V feed when parked by my trailer (with an appropriate 12V conversion kit). I have an external 12V socket on the trailer I can plug into. Looks like Starlink only uses about 2A, I think those 12V cigarette lighter sockets are rated unto 15A?

This way I don't have to keep moving the dish (unless an obstruction is really bad and have to take it off my truck.

Just got to remember to unplug the 12V cable before driving away!

Sounds like a good plan. I'll be interested to hear how it performs. Our early edition Starlink most definitely has an appetite.

How did running Gen3 with a DC converter plugged into an Escape cigarette lighter outlet work out for you?
Did the outlet handle the Gen3 power draw OK?

I actually ended up putting a dedicated dc feed in the trailer for it. Found an external power socket on Etsy and put in a Victron 12-24 DC/DC converter which I actually have set to 30V so it will work over the 30ft dc cable . Works great!
