I came across this while reading up on the Anderson levelor.
Manual leveling with 2x8 or 2x10 planks:
1. Measure hub to hub distance of the axles. Add 18"
2. Cut first plank to the measurement obtained in #1.
3. Add 5" to measurement #1, cut second plank.
4. Add 5" to measurement of second plank, cut third plank.
Stack and drive on as needed.
This sounds like a simple and inexpensive solution to leveling.
(Since my only leveling up to now is finding a level spot for my tent, I'm trying to anticipate what I'll need)
Does anyone know what the hub to hub distance is on the 19' Escape?
Other comments or suggestions?

While I can understand looking for a different solution for the 19 because you would need two for the double axle, I'll stick with the Anderson for my 17. Fast, simple, and when combined with a Hopkins Lighted Level, makes leveling when traveling solo a breeze! While the Hopkins level isn't perfect (I'm going to make my own, better version when I'm back home from this trip) it makes leveling the trailer a one shot project.

I'm moving from a single axle trailer to a double axle. I'm gonna miss my BAL leveler (whine, weep, cry). Hauling a bunch of lumber will never be in my vocabulary... or in the back of my truck. I'm looking at other solutions. The Anderson leveler is still a possibility....

Jim, I may do that. Still months away from needing to make that decision. Loved the BAL. Folks that complained about the weight or grease or whatever... didn't really use it like I musta...

Hummmm....

Hey Donna if you decide you want another BAL I will make you a good deal on mine. It's left over from my Chalet and even comes with a pizza case and a tube for the greasy threaded rod. Since I'm just North of you we go to Portland quite often. You can send a private message if interested.

Gee, TechFan, you beat me, I was going to offer Donna mine with the pizza case and bring it to the rally in Osoyoos!!

Jim,
What are you leveling with in your 21?
I'm thinking of sticking with 2x8 boards, but am open to other ideas.
Thanks,
Ray

I plan on using the Anderson levelers on my 21. I cut them down today so they'd fit between the wheels. Hope they work because I'm committed now!

I also cut one of the Anderson Levelers down to fit between the wheels of the 21. Two weeks and several camp spots this past month and I had no use for them, hope they work when I do have the need.

Jack, Did you just buy one Anderson leveler? I purchased one for each axle. I then cut both Anderson levelers so that both axles, or tires, would rise at the same time, at the same rate, and end up at the same height. Am I looking at this this all wrong?

Tom, I bought a pair of the levelers so I could raise one side. I only trimmed the tip of one by about an inch or so that allowed it to be placed between the two tires either direction and the other would be in front or back of the other axle and tire. If I want to raise one side by only one inch, I'll probably only use one on one axle.

Thanks Jack, you make a lot of sense. I haven't used mine yet, but looking at it, even with the tips cut off, there's very little room for error. I'll have to be pulling the center one out as I'm pulling off the wedges. There won't be much room before the other wheel bumps up against the tall part of the center wedge. It looks precarious to me, so I'll be carrying my leveling blocks with me until I'm confident that these really will work.
