Rv Trip Wizard

Just tried RVParky and in my 5 minute run thru I was impressed! I used it years ago but thought it was just a campground locator app (maybe it was?). Anyway, I’ll look for a free trial and I may be swayed away from Roadtrippers.

I use the RVParky app.

When I started using it, it was free. I thought it was so AWESOME & said to myself that I would be willing to pay for this app & was surprised it had so many usable features for free. It was just what I was looking for to plan a camping trip across the country.

Well before our 1st trip, they changed the app. I already had most of my trip planned out. When I went to add more stops, it said I could only add 5 stops. To have the ability to add unlimited stops required a fee.

I was happy to pay for it as the fee seemed very reasonable at $19.99/year! That's the price it's been for the last 2 years.

I used it to plan both of our trips out West. First trip (Spring 2023) was 22 nights & over 5,700 miles. Second trip (Spring 2024) was 55 nights & over 7,500 miles.

For those trips we were camping in our 2018 Palomino SS-550 slide-in truck camper which had a pop-up top & no bathroom, just a port-a-potty which was rarely used. (Those trips were before we got our 2023 5.0 in the Fall of 2024.)

RVParky worked really well & I found it very intuitive & easy to use.

I did not put in gas stops, so not sure how that works in terms of mileage. I plotted all our campsites to get the right distances/time that we wanted to travel. I suppose then I could have added in the gas stops.

Wondering if any one else has used RVParky before and how it compares to the other apps mentioned.

Thanks for the tip. I just signed up for the free version and Like it so far. I also like its only 19.99 a year.

I planned our trips the same way @RambleOn described by plotting the final destination first. I then added other destinations along the way.

I would look at the map it created & sometimes where I wanted to go didn't make sense on the map so I would have to move that stop up or down the list depending on where I was intending to go.

Or if it was too far off our main course, and not seeming to be worth a 3 hour detour to see that area, I could eliminate it.

You can enter a specific address or name to add it to your trip as well.

It is also easy to make duplicates of your trip so you can play around with it without messing up your main map.

I also made copies of my trip just incase that trip file got corrupted. Never had it happen but better to be safe than sorry.

You can access RVParky from a computer as well!

Given the good comments on this thread, I've been using RV Parky for the past week and I find it to be generally excellent. I'm a long-time Roadtripper's user so I can make a decent comparison now between the two. RVP is by far a better app for scheduling a trip and getting information on campsites. Roadtrippers' strongest point in comparison is that is highlights all types of sights and attractions along your route, not just places to camp.

Unlike with RT, RVP lets you easily adjust your start dates, set how many nights you want to stay at a certain place, and automatically adjusts the remainder of your trip, unless you 'fix' a date at a certain place. RT is clunky and confusing when you try to add or adjust dates.

RVP has much more information on each campsite and allows you to filter out the types you don't want (e.g., Cracker Barrel and KOA). There are generally more reviews and RVP has more extensive and complete info on facilities and pricing.

RT, on the other hand, is great for setting a route and then finding interesting places, or campsites, within a user-set distance from your route. We have found many a gem using their suggestions. RVP only highlights camping, overnight stops, rest areas and gas stations.

I wish they could merge and combine the best of both into one app but for now we'll be using both on our next trip and see where we end up when subscription renewal time rolls around.
