San Diego to Tucson - stopover boondoggle

Any suggestions on a safe place to spend the night on a drive from San Diego in the direction of Tucson? Currently looking at staying at Love's truck stop in Yuma, but wondering if anyone else had a recommendation.

Mittry Lake just a couple miles SE of Yuma is very nice.

There is a lot of boondocking north of Yuma. Also Senator wash area. Better than a truck stop but not as close to the highway.
