Scissors type stabilizers

Hmmm, we take a thread on scissor jacks, repurpose it to controlling an electric heater, and now it looks like we're off and running to running lights

I can roll with that... I use an old style turn signal flasher relay to flash my running lights. I just plug it into the seven pin connector on my trailer. One pin goes into the battery slot, the other into the running light slot.

and I installed an female 7 pin connector on my front storage box, connected the same 2 pins via fuse wire inside the box. Now when I stop at night I unplug from my tow and plug into my front box to turn on my marker lights for night time visibility while parked.

Do you have the rear view camera? If so, did you install a switch to turn it off when your marker lights are on while parked at night? Where did you install the switch?

I would like a lighted switch above the refrigerator telling me the camera is on. I'm going to ask ETI about installing one, but from reading the forum, I expect they won't.

Fred, always looking for something new to tinker around with! I remember seeing Jim's light setup at the rally in Iowa this fall ... it is pretty slick the way it works.

You mean something like this? I'm working on it. Just need to run a wire from the existing panel to the hot water heater.

Tom, I agree that would look much neater. Can you send me the link to the panel supplier? I am not sure if this is a KIB product, but looks just like it.

It is a KIB M-SS1086. I bought it on Ebay. At the time I bought it, there were several vendors offering it - I haven't seen it since.

You might be able to find one on Ebay or contacting KIB.

This is the model that seems to available now. It uses the same connections and has the same functionality, but looks different than the one Escape installs.

Reviving this post, I am wondering if anyone has added a switch to there rear view camera?
Also, does anyone have an idea of the amp draw of the camera or how much the camera would draw down batteries overnight)?

well, back to the jacks....i had a discussion recently as to whether the c jacks are more stable extended as far as possible (i.e., approaching as straight up/down as possible, the biggest possible angle between the two arms), vs deployed onto a block or bed riser so it has a bend like <, or the smallest possible angle. all you engineers please weigh in. thanks.

I haven't noticed a big difference. I used to use blocks so I wouldn't have to crank them down too far, but I finally got a drilldriver adapter, so right now, mine are nearly vertical, and it seems just as stable inside.
