Seeing in the dark! (Turning or backing at night)

Our neighbors just bought a brand new Jayco camper. I was surprised to see the trailer tail lights had integrated backup lights. Never noticed those on a camper before.

A quick search found some strip type lights with integrated backup lights. They'd be a good candidate for anyone replacing defective factory lights.

I found something! These magnetic spotlights from Home Depot. They come with the batteries and ready to go. I took this picture tonight with them on the back of my truck since the trailer is tucked away. They ae sitting on the bumper which on the truck is not magnetic but they should be good on the trailer bumper.

I already have a metal bracket bolted to my solar panel frame in the back, for holding a magnetic back-up camera.
Now ordered the Costco lights (great deal), too, thanks to this thread! How did I live w/t them, so many uses.

These were on our trailer when we bought it. They were wired/installed by ETI when the trailer was ordered.

I'm surprised Escape doesn't have backup lights, my SOB came from the factory with them, I changed it out for the LED version.

I added backup lights via a light bar above the rear window. My 2006 did not have a light bar before. The new light bar with turn signals and such was a good thing to have and adding a backup light was an additional benefit. Running new wires from the front to the back of the trailer was the hard part.
The backup light was not as bright as I hoped and it primarily shows my intent to back rather than brighten up the area behind the trailer, but it does help my spotter.
It would be easy to tap into the new wires I ran to add brighter back up lights on the side of the light bar but I am lazy and rarely backup after dark; only at home so far.
I wired up the backup light and all the running lights so I can turn them on separately from inside the trailer.
This post describes the mod.

We just had escape install additional exterior lights the same as the porch light. There's one up high on the back, and another one on the driver side towards the back, and then the standard porch light. There's also one under the front loft, but it's not helpful for backing.

They all have interior switches and so with a light on each side and the back it works pretty well for lighting up the surroundings. They also come in handy for working around the trailer at night.
We also had Escape add extra outdoor lighting on our 5.0, one fore, one aft, two driver plus standard porch and awning lights. Just wonder why they don’t have back-up lights like our Casita?
