Seeking an Escape - literally

Hi, future camping acquaintances.

I'm a current member of the rat race and a part-time/wannabee writer who's looking for just the right camper for some weekend writing getaways. Being a word nerd, I can't help thinking an "Escape" is just the right thing.

I'll be keeping it simple -- but I do want to be able to cook (actually cook, not microwave) while I'm out communing with the trees and madly attempting to spill my thoughts onto the page.

Also want to be able to do those middle-of-the-night potty breaks without thinking I'm going to step on a snake in my flip flops. Sorry if that's TMI

And finally, I'm hoping for something that hasn't necessarily been re-done on the inside, because I sew, and I totally want to glamp out with some beautiful fabrics. Yes, there will be flowers, and there may even be ruffles.

Anyway, if you're out camping sometime and you see a woman on a picnic table with long grey braids, doing some yoga or meditating -- it might be me. Please say hello!

If your looking for advice, what is your budget, what tow vehicle do you have, and where do you want to go and for how long?

If your solo, you can't go wrong with an Escape 17B! If your buying new, contact the factory, if your looking for a trailer with history, check out the classifieds here on the forum.

There are many good YouTube videos to get an idea which trailer is good for you. I love these trailers, no other travel trailer even compares.

Welcome Maggie, to our little Escape world. If you have not seen one, please call the factory and ask for a list owners near you. Once seen, you will really fall in love with them. Good luck...

Welcome to the forum, Maggie! I relate to pretty much everything you wrote and wish you the best in your search. For similar reasons, I purchased a 17B from ETI last October. My decision took into account three major components: a desire to boondock full time in non-winter months; a determination to keep my older model Sienna van with lots of storage space that would "just do" to pull the 17B with added WDH/anti-sway bars; and a personal desire not to ever pull anything larger than a 17B, as my travel trailer adventures are just beginning at age 69. The interior space is sufficient for me as a solo traveler, and I purchased a clamshell screen room to increase outdoor enjoyment in “buggy” areas.

The greatest downside in the 17B for me was and is that it does not have an oven, and at the time I purchased it, ETI found no space to add one, even though previous versions did allow for this option. Things may change by the time you order. You can always ask! As a celiac who cannot rely on gluten-free products in groceries or meals in restaurants, I needed an oven, so I purchased the newest Camp Chef with temperature gauge. It can’t be used indoors, which works for me, as I plan to fulltime only in the non-winter months. Outdoor cooking also keeps the added heat, humidity, major messes, and cooking odors outside.
