I have emailed Jeff, but haven't heard back. I tried to delete posts one at a time but this jerk puts them up faster than I can take them down. I would nuke them if I knew how. Not sure I have the authority. Can only hope we hear from Jeff soon.

Obviously Jeff has been hard at work. I've asked how I could help more, especially if he's off camping.

I'm not too sure if it was a BOT as they would of been able to do thousands of posts in a second..and they need to do some "screen scraping" to replicate the forms that are served up on the Web, plus they were creating "topics" not just posts.. Probably someone who gets paid in a different country to just add this stuff.. an agency that gets paid by the click.. anyway I deleted the account and will try some other deterrents that doesn't make it too hard to join the forum.. I was on a trip at Lake Tahoe and just happened to check in at a coffee shop (w/laptop) to see how everything was going and of course noticed the "stuff".. So I might need to invest in some web browsing phone to monitor the site, or some text alert to the phone.. as I'm planning on doing some more traveling in the next couple of months.. We'll come up with something..

Ok.. I was thinking of adding a limit of 25 posts per day per member as way to discourage Spam..when it does occur.. any thoughts?

Good idea, Jeff. And thank you for all the work you do on this board! Same goes for your moderator. :)

sounds good to me. Another idea, instead of you buying a mobile internet device, is just give another Mod your cell phone number. Then you can clean up the forum on your laptop when you have time. I personally don't mind waiting a few days. I think all of us members are patient.

Re: SPAM -Update

Ok.. I added some questions to the registration process to stop a "BOT" from automatically registering on the Forum.. I also added a way to check emails & IP address of known spammers against a collected DB that tracks this stuff.. so that should help as well..

Still looking at a way to limit the number of posts and possibly having another check prior to creating or adding a post..

I will keep everyone updated on my progress..

Yes, I'm sure everyone appreciates all you do. Thank you, thank you.

Some sites won't let me post more than one message per minute.

As we all do, I thank you, Jeff, for your work here.

Ron... Thanks for the idea.. I just increased the time to wait between posts to 2 minutes.. should be OK for us "hunt & peck" people..

Yeah, but what about use "Rapid Fire" types, eh?

Just kidding, of course. I think it is a great idea. Anything to help keep those spammers at bay.

I can't really understand why they do it, is there actually anybody who buys in to their schemes?

I was thinking the same thing. Also telemarketing. Do people really buy? I guess they do. There was a telemarketing ring busted up that sold car warranty's and they made millions over the phone. Strange to me too. Anyway, thanks again jeff for all your work.

Hi: JeffZ...As all have said... thanks for what you and Gbaglo have done to restore the decorum of the site. I find it amazing there are so many people out there determined to spoil others fun. Thanks again. Alf

Wow, two minutes seems like forever when you want to add posts to two threads in a row. ;)
On a photography forum I frequent the 20 seconds they set sometimes seems long. :)
