Springfield pedestal: One more time

Pretty sure that the tubes just bump the bottom of the sockets. If you remove the sockets, you can screw the mounting screws back into the holes till you’re ready to deal with filling the holes/ repairing the flooring. On our 2010 19 I flexed on the socket taking the table out once and broke the cast aluminum socket. Did not end up mattering as I had a spare and eventually removed the sockets and used a different table mount when my brother and I built a custom sized table with a separate fold down frame.

I'm probably making this more difficult than it is. But it's 20 degrees F out there, and a foot of snow at the storage lot so I can't go look. I thought the socket extended through the floor, and the fiberglass shell? Maybe not? Its the possibility of two, 2" holes that have me concerned.

Gotta remember to take pictures of the bottom.

nah, no holes other than the screws. the tube doesn't quite reach the bottom of the tapered socket.

Definitely not on my 2014 E19. The tube has a taper on the end. It only goes into the base until it jams. Good theory. Tapers on machine tools lock solidly because the taper is precision machined. The tapers on the table tubes are a poor fit in the bases and that's why the tables rock.

Nope, not on mine

As RonBC stated, the sockets are fastened with 1/2" long wood screws. The floor plywood is noted elsewhere to be 1/2" thick. On mine, no penetration thru the fiberglass shell.

Forget about the snow. It's 4F here, now.
