I’m hoping some of you who have purchased a trailer from Escape and then imported it into the USA can describe how you handled state license and registration. Florida tells me a non-USA manufactured vehicle (trailer included) must first go to a regional Florida inspection station and pass inspection before it is eligible to be registered. Presentation of the bill of sale beforehand to pay tax and receive a plate, I am told, is not an option. So the puzzle is how to spend some months out west, after trailer purchase, before arriving back in Florida for inspection and registration
I’ve purchased out of state cars and transported them back home unregistered by using a temporary transfer tag but those tags have expired after 5 days. But the temporary nature of that arrangement doesn’t fit the circumstances. Have any of you run into this puzzle and how have you addressed it? I’m sure it’s come up many times; we’re just new to the game. Thanks for your help!
