On the way to Chilliwack.
Bismarck: Greeted by temperatures in the mid 30's as we packed the 4 Runner this morning. It was drizzling but nothing too bad. The cool thing was that it would be clear sailing all the way to Bozeman on long empty stretches of highway. Except it didn't happen that way. The rain got more intense and then rapidly transitioned to snow. Just like that too. Within a matter of 30 minutes the highway was covered with a nasty mix of freezing slush. Traffic slowed down to around 30 mph. With 500 miles to go I wasn't feeling too optimistic about making it in time to watch game 3 between Golden State & Portland. And the weather got worse. We saw the first of probably 10 vehicles that had lost control and ended up in the medium or a field. Some were flipped over.

I've never seen weather conditions deteriorate so quickly before.

Anyway once we crossed into Montana the snow transitioned back to rain. We made it into Bozeman before game 3 began.

Donna to a sequence of shots of 18 wheeler which blew by us. It was crazy and didn't go well for the driver.

We had a similar situation a year ago March when we passed through Flagstaff on our way to Phoenix. We needed gas so pulled off and there were all these long ass stick-built trailers clogging up the access to the bumps, waiting out the storm. We just took our nimble little Tacoma and 19' Escape and maneuvered between them to a pump. When finished we managed to get back on the freeway behind a snow plow. Followed him all the way down the mountain until the weather turned back to rain. Quite an adventure!

Wow, glad both of you are safe. We had nasty rain and crosswinds yesterday and some sleeting, but nowhere what you described. Sometimes I feel Franklin is watching over us on this trip to Chilliwack and Osoyoos. Se you guys soon...

Stormy weather doollie noted. Will be saddling up and heading out this morning!

Hope to meet you there. Sent you a PM. But anyway we have close friends who live about 14 miles from you. Our friendship all started because of our shared interest in observing the universe under dark skies with telescopes.

Roger that. I shoot 'em but don't count 'em. What?...Snow? Just packed my parka.
