Surge Protector

Get the one that Escape offers. For the price they sell and install it for you can't go wrong. It offers complete trailer protection. We have had external ones and they are ok but just something else you have to carry and hook up. Plus for the price they cost you have to worry about someone stealing it. Also like Jim said they will not fit at some campgrounds.

I think escape offers it so cheap so that people will purchase it and it protects their trailers and gives them less warranty problems with electronic items such as converters.

Thanks Jim - We were on the fence on that one. Thoughts were that the external could be stolen but that it would be a hassle to replace if the internal one had a problem. (We pick up our 19' in January so we need to get our option list in by October.) When we looked at some other Escapes, never thought to check out the surge protector to see where it's mounted in the trailer.

It is mounted under the street side dinette, where your converter is, mine was on top of the black tank, but I installed mine. Remote display is right in front. It carries a lifetime warranty, I believe, so any issues are covered. Very easy install, if you can replace an outlet you can install one of these.

Since my engineer husband is not the "EE" type, we'll just let Escape install it and keep our fingers crossed that we never have to use the warranty .... (spoken with a smile).
