Swiveling table for 5.0 sleeping area

Has anyone installed a small table on either side of the bed in their 5.0. Something like a mini-Lagun mount that could swivel into place when sitting in bed? We're trying to figure out a safe way to have our wine while watching a movie.

Hi Shearwater,
I don't have a 5.0 but I do have a 21ne and have installed a couple of the Lagun mounts into my trailer. Knowing this process and thinking of the bed area of the 5.0, I don't know where in that area a mounts could be placed. As far the rest of the Lagun system, it could be modified and sized to fit your needs as far as height and length of reach. Now in my thinking, there may only be a couple areas that a Lagun mount might be able to be placed, which might be cabinet on either side of the bed at the head or at one of the cabinets towards the foot of the bed. The side walls are totally out of the question.

So your mounting locations for a Lagun mount seem to be very limited.

Hope you the best of luck on your project. Anything is possible with enough thought given to the task.

Check out my thread here called My "Escape to Margaritaville Modifications and Alterations" as it has photos of the lagun system in my trailer (21ne) at post 92 and 93 I think. There are other post on my thread that has other lagun photos as well.

Yeah, the Lagun mount might be overkill for such a tiny space. The idea of some kind of solution came to me while looking for a place to set my wine glass. Now I'm wondering about installing a small folding shelf, similar to what ETI installs, just a bit smaller, maybe on the order of 8" square.

Hey Sherwater,

Those are great as well. Check my thread as I have made a few of these. They are pretty easy to do. I get the folding brackets from Amazon and they run about $20 for a pair. I've come across a smaller locking hinge that would allow me to make a shelf about 4" wide and however long I want. Will be making one of these for my wife's side of the bed. She always keep a bottle of water close at hand and a small shelf that can fold away will be in order for the area that I have in mind. I'll be posting photos of that in about a week or so. Just a thought.

Cheers to ya...... and Happy Trails........ Jack

Could you use an adult version of a child's sippy cup?

Or what about below the window's on each side make a box with cup holders in the top like you have in the center console of your vehicle?

Or I searched bean bag cup holder and found this

Maybe build something where the base extends under the mattress,
like this .

And the table top folds down when not in use.

Post whatever you come up with, might want to steal the idea.

That's pretty cool. I made a couple of trays fit between the mattress and the wall. Big enough to hold a mug of coffee, paper back and eye glasses. There's usually a medium sized dog on the bed when we are on the bed so we have to make sure whatever we do doesn't impede her comfort!

I like that idea, let the weight of the mattress hold it in place.

This winter I'm hoping to redo the the cubbies at the head of the bed. I can only hope to achieve something as nice as this:

I would be wary of any extra installed pieces . The 5.0 bed is hard to make up as is... I can't imagine trying to work around a couple of Lagun mounts as well. Just my opinion. The tray suggestions are spot on...

Thanks for all of the suggestions. As soon as I posted the Lagun idea I knew it was impractical. I'm heading out to take some measurements in our 5.0 this weekend and then I'll start working out some ideas on paper. Best thing about owning an Escape are all of the mod opportunities!

Keeping it simple, since we really only need to hold a wine glass, I've installed a cheap little 7" wide aluminum shelf on either side of our bed. The only slightly tricky part was that the premolded cubby is only about 5" deep, so I had to drill new holes through the shelf for mounting.
