Tail lights

Just to be clear, we can't make a new lens, because any vehicle light has to be approved by the Canadian and US Dept of Transportation for use in the public roads, and I'm not jumping through those hoops. I think the idea of an adapter that adapts an available/certified replacement light to the existing holes is what we need.

meh, I just drilled new holes, and filled the old ones.

brake/signal lights

I am replacing the upper brake/signal lights on my 2017 E19 and would love to know if there is a way to access the wires inside? I would hate to pull and cut and add additional connectors. Do I disassemble the inside corners of the overhead storage?

you should be able to get at least 2-3 inches of wire out the existing holes, then splice the wires using shrinkwrap (marine) butt connectors. on the inside, the wiring is under the insulation and liner

I would probably do the same thing. But a majority of people aren't willing to even make a simple measurement to ensure something fits and even fewer are willing to drill hole or make an adjustment if it doesn't drop right in place. I was actually considering taking the Bargmans off my trailer and selling them on eBay. They're probably worth at least $75 each, maybe even more at auction. Something to consider.

Well, after replacing one of the Bargmans on my trailer I have a whole new appreciation for this problem. The wires don't exit the center of either the Bargmans or the replacement Optronics, and if you need to feed wires through in a new hole, you're going to have to tear into your trailer from the inside to make the new connections. The adapter eliminates the drama by providing enough space to make the connections outside the trailer and uses the old holes for mounting as well as the wire passthrough. It's quite a bit simpler to use the adapter plate. It was painful cutting off my perfectly good 1-year-old Bargmans to test the adapters, but maybe I can sell them on eBay and make a buck or two.

I haven't been to our storage facility in a while but can lay a straight edge along my light when I get out there.
