Tank capacities

A new forum the company started directly. I should give it a chance but I’m already turned off by Karl’s intro video where he said theirs will be the “most current and factual”. I think there are a lot of facts here by some very smart and experienced campers...just some they probably don’t want to hear. Personally I feel I have contributed a lot here and don’t plan on trying to keep up with posts on two forums.

I went to the ETI forum Friday to have a look at any additional comments on the Stovetop thread and it was locked, along with a number of others. I questioned this and was told that all questions had been answered and verified.

Guess that tells us something. I asked to be removed from the forum as I couldn't find a way to do it myself.

Wow…thanks for the update. So it is not a forum for discussion, further information or updates.
I guess they hope the thread(s) will fade away.

Just got email confirmation from Melisa at ETI, the black tank on the 21NE has never been 22 gallons. She confirmed it is 13.2 gallons. Oh well, it is what it is. We are expecting delivery Sept 2, 2021.

The 1st generation Escapes have the same issue as 2nd generation with respect to the usable volume of the tanks being less than the actual volume of the tanks. I have learned to live with it and it is not an issue for me.

This is not accurate. The problem is is not that the full tank capacity is not usable, it's that they installed a tank that is 14 gallons instead of the 22 that they advertised, with "13.2" usable.

FWIW the early 19’s (2009-2011ish) had an advertised 14 gallon black tank. It does become a limiting factor with no hookup depending on circumstances. Upcoming 4 day trip with four of us (2 adults / 2 kids) will likely stress the tank even with careful use. I’m taking a portable waste tank to avoid having to take the trailer over to the dump station during the trip. Don’t really want to have to deal with it but I will if needed.

I could not bring myself to read the entire thread. The main reason was that it appears for some of you your tank is half empty. Others it seem have a tank that is half full.

That’s life,
That’s what all the campers say
Your tank was half full yesterday
It’s full of …… today.
With apologies to Frank and others.

tank sizes

We picked up our new 5th wheel middle of April and have used it 3 times. No weekends because of crowds but each time for Mon. to Friday was available . We went to Bisbee, Prescott and Flagstaff, all AZ. The new tank quantity indicates worked very well as did rest of the trailer. I'm happy to come home with no projects and I have just about mastered the 5th wheel. Only once 4wd would have been nice as I had to back into a spot up hill, it took a few tries.

That’s great to hear Jack and I know you and Nancy are going to enjoy the additional room over the 17. We haven’t been out much but look to go again soon. Have a family out booked in early August and some fall plans but like you, won’t fight the weekend crowds.

Here is a link to a couple explaining how they manage with a 15 gallon black tank. It's a bit long, at 23:30 you can find how they solved the issue. ;D

Changed values on website.............?

Was just looking at the inventory selection for today and needed to see what the black tank capacities are for the 17B and 19.

ETI website now shows (again? / old?)

17B - 19 gal black
19 - 19 gal black
21NE - 22 gal black

Are those the old / incorrect values - maybe a web file glitch?

13.2 gallon black tank in the 21NE makes it less desirable as a trailer for anything more than a couple of people.

ETI not updating website and also those with a deposit in for a 21NE makes ETI less trustworthy as a manufacturer.

Let's hope they do the right thing. Definitely watching.

You know it is possible that Escape has sourced a larger black tank to install in future builds.

There certainly is room. The tank would have to extend less than 6 inches more under the dinette seat.

This is a good point. I had hoped they would announce that they were updating the tank to the 22gal size. It hadn't occurred to me that they may already be in the process and don't feel the need to state 13.2 gal on the website since the tank will be 22gal soon enough. They should still let those know who will be picking up a trailer before the 22gal design is implemented. They could possibly offer to retrofit the trailers at a later date after border is open. Even offer to retrofit current owners too. A huge cost and time sink no doubt. Guess it would come down to how big of a stink owners make.

However the 19' trailers also have incorrect info about the black tank size. I would think that trying to retrofit all of those trailers too would be too much for the company right now. And not as critical since They're mainly for couples and not being pushed as a family trailer as much.

Escape gives the tank sizes in two different places on their site. One is under base and options and the other is under specs and floor plan. They have corrected the tanks size for the black for the 19 and 21NE under base and options but not under specs and floor plan. So now their web site gives to different tanks sizes depending on what tab you look at.
