test site this community

Huh? A member started the topic. So how could it NOT be public if in a thread or topic. :-\
"Public" means us out on the internet, in contrast to development and test versions which are available only to the people working (for Social Knowledge or any company providing service to them) within their own private network. A page titled "test" is likely supposed to be only served within the developer's private network, not on the public internet.

He's just saying a 'test' page probably wasn't intended to be published on the web server. But, I've seen it happen all the time. Usually it's either the Web Server admin published the wrong page, or they can do it intentionally to test live functionality with a web facing page they've redesigned. Pages in alpha are usually only published to an intranet, while beta and charlie pages get exposed to the public quite often - and the labels sometimes don't get removed.

Guys I know what public and test mean... The problem lies with the subject title. That had nothing to do with anything a moderator or admin did or didn't do or anything by Social Knowledge.

Well of course, a moderator wouldn't have had anything to do with it. You folks moderate threads, not administer the server that generates the website. The OP said he saw "test" in the page. I was just pointing out in response to earlier comments that the page may still be in testing and was published on purpose. It's all good.:)

I had the same problem on my iPhone yesterday, and had to scroll to the very bottom and click on Switch to Full Version. Not sure how it got switched to the mobile version because I didn't do it.

Yup, this was exactly my experience, too. I'm glad to see it wasn't something I did inadvertently. I have enough issues dealing with things I do by accident!

Ken, maybe post a screen shot of what you see. Doesn't seem like anything I have had come up.

This is what I see when I go to Tapatalk, then click on the Escape forum.

I don't think he's using the App Jim - just a browser. He has to manually "request desktop site" in order to display the regular version of the site instead of the mobile one.

Gotcha! And with you too. I tried using the full site on my phone, I will now only use the app. So much easier to read, navigate and post with.

Ken-
If you are using a browser on a computer, not a smart phone, and you have to go into settings to change to full site, make sure you also click on "save settings" or your computer will revert to the original setting. Just a thought........

Thanks carl - i am using google browser on the phone so the phone has just started to go to mobile view when previously it never did. So now i have to change back to desktop view manually. It just makes me wondercwhy this would suddenly develope without provocation.

tks ken

Ken, I think it's because the mobile version of the site wasn't published before and now it is. Since your phone calls up a mobile site version by default, you saw it for the first time. I realized earlier that when I used a browser before on my iPhone, I always used to get the full site. Now I get the mobile one.

Have you thought about using the Tapatalk app? I think it works much better on a mobile device.
