I'm not sure why having one makes it different.

Never having had 2 dogs at the same time, it just seems that they keep each other company.

We're going to take our Maltese, Dallas, with us next week when we head to AZ for a couple months. She's not gone with us for more then nearby weekend trips so this will be a new experience.

She's 14, returning to TX is on her bucket list.

This is Peanut enjoying our new 21 on the way home from Chilliwack. She's 13 and loves to go see the Christmas lights.

This is Winston, he's 4 and weighs a full 5lbs at fighting weight. He's settled him self in for the winter.

We took them from New York to Chilliwack and back with no problems. You'll have a great time with yours.

Some do, but two of mine don't like each other much. And one of the two gets into everything he can in the trailer if alone, and gets out of the pen if left outside without me there (instantly).

For those with just 1 dog, what do you do with it when you want to sight see or go to dinner?

We limit the amount of time we are away from the campsite. Coco is just fine for a few hours. If it needs to be longer, we've been pretty lucky most of the time in finding a fellow camper who we've befriended and who also has pets, and they are usually happy to sit for us. We find we don't have to go out for more than a few hours very often.

For those with just 1 dog, what do you do with it when you want to sight see or go to dinner?

When we have internet/cel connection we use an iPad or leave one of our cel phones to set up an app called Presence. It allows us to both watch and listen to the girls. In warm weather we place a thermometer in front of the camera that also has a clock on it - if the power and air conditioning goes out we know it. Also we close the shades just in case "nut eaters" (can't say squirrels in front of them) happen to show up outside. In warm weather we also crack a window or two and open the roof vent. 99% of the time when we check on them, they are asleep.

Perhaps. They can also teach each other how to get in trouble, and when you get home you don't know which one it was that did whatever shouldn't have been. Been there; done that.

We don't often stay in commercial RV parks and were convinced that Charly just slept while we were away from the trailer.
Learned otherwise when we stayed at Nk'Mip a couple years ago. The people next to us informed us that the dog started howling as soon as we pulled away, and cried the entire time.

For the love of our dogs

We've always had two dogs at a time. They make our life fuller, and we sure feel their absence when one crosses the rainbow bridge. One of our labs passed away on a camping trip back in 2009. She was old, and we knew her time was coming. Chloe died a natural death out in the environment she loved the most. We had a Scamp 13 at the time...never thought we'd be using it to bring her body back home.

We have many great memories with all our dogs and the many camping trips they've travelled with us. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Katzam - looks quite a bit like my house - just add in a 3 legged Mexican Dalmatian cross, and the latest - a Lab/Great Dane pup!

I do love seeing all this dog-in-the-trailer stuff. I knew there are a lot of us out there.

We've had two dogs at a time but, pre-egg -never trailered with them. Ben was always so easy, we could go, and leave him to sleep in the trailer for a couple hours at a time. Thank you guys for the kind words of condolence.

I have always wanted to comment about dogs and camping. When you are in any campground, you will see every breed of dog out there plus every mix of mutt you can think of. Happy dogs, fat dogs, skinny dogs, long hair, short hair, all having as much fun camping as their owners. Enjoying those long walks around the camp and greeting fellow campers. At one campground, a man was gently helping his crippled German Shepard in and out of the trailer. It was very touching to see as we lost our 12 year old German Shepard this last August. Yes, dogs sure love to camp. Don't leave home without them. Loren

I got back into camping after a long hiatus because of the dogs. First I bought a tent for camping at agility trials, then moved up to the Campster, and got involved in "corgi camping". I've never gone without them.
