We are almost home, 250 more miles and we'll do that at 6 this morning. We don't have any changes in mind to the trailer before we leave again for Oregon. It is close to perfect for us as we live and travel. The thread on tires I read with interest as I paid an extra $50 per tire (5) to have Reace and company install 5 Goodyear Marathons. I had new Marathons on an Airstream 20 years ago and no problems, I had various import names on a Casita 17 later and lost several treads, one on a LA freeway with a very high dollar car following me, no damage except a lot of black to clean off the trailer. With the Casita I then switched to LT tires and no more problems. My 19 had Goodyears and no problems for 3 years and a lot of miles. I felt the cost was worth it to buy another set for the 21 as I do run at the speed limits up and down hill with this Jeep GC and Hemi engine. As for RV parks, the KOA at West Glacier was great, the only one in town at Jackson not so, this one in Overguard, AZ has one bath room/shower closed at night and it has only the minimal equipment, one each and yet the big book rates it 9*.
In Tucson we have had minimal, near none, rain for the last few years so we didn't complain about the week or so of good rain, the trailer didn't mind it and we had our umbrellas. Hope to see you in Oregon and yes Donna we do have our flags and you can use us when we get there.

Glad things are going terrific for you on your travels home Jack and Nancy! It's just shortly after 5am as I write this, so you'll be heading out soon.

Safe travels, always and see you in a few weeks at the Oregon Gathering.

jeep GC mileage towing a 21

When towing the 19 I got 15 to 16 with no wind, with the 21 it varies from 12 to 14 in no wind and has dropped to 11 or 12 with head wind. The extra width and weight really add up. I still get the 21 or so not towing.

I'm trying to figure out the mileage on my RAV4 V6.
Last tank I used 16.3 liters/100km ( 14.4 MPG US ). That sucks. Most of that tank of gas was short trips around town. My house to Safeway, the mall, the beer store and the gas station and to Toyota for recalls.
Service manager says the engine is all computer controlled and computer says everything is OK. But, they cleaned my brake pads and replaced my air filter anyway, just to give me some hope. Didn't work.
I got my best mileage towing the trailer on a flat freeway at 90kph.

Glenn,
Why would you tow your Escape to Safeway, the mall, beer store and to the Toyota dealer? Would it not be better to leave your trailer unhitched during those times???
And cleaning brake pads would add-0- to your mph number!! Am I missing something here? ;D

Ron, we started out with a little trip to Texas this year. We now have two weeks for the trees and plants to get a little more water as it was 105 yesterday. Can't wait to hit CA on the way to Oregon. A week in Grants Pass prior Bandon and a couple more weeks coming down the coast.

Wow Jack and Nancy, can't believe you are just now getting home-good for you guys! Enjoyed meeting you in Texas and hope to see you on the road next year somewhere!

Happy birthday to Chico
