To all our North East owners/members

We "were"going to have stewed rhubarb (frozen) and strawberries last night---alas I went outside and yapped with the neighbour for awhile---thick black very burnt mess on my saucepan---yikes---took multiple soaks with baking soda and scrubs from both myself and Doug---finally came clean!
Glad I didn't try making poutine --actually the last time I did try, (and only time) with fresh cheesecurds Doug was not impressed!!

I want some ole fashion rhubarb pies, the kind my grandma would make.....

That's what I would hear my dad say occasionally. My family's originally from Lycoming Co., but we moved to CA when I was little, so I never experienced rhubarb. I did get to enjoy my Grandma's homemade pickles, and spiced peaches. Soooo good.

Sitting out on my deck reading the forum on my tablet (outside Asheville, NC). Life is good here!

Well, it was 12°F at 7:30 this morning (at 3:25PM it is all the way up to 18F). Took the trailer to a local shop around 8:00AM to have the bearings checked, repacked, new tires mounted & brakes adjusted. Got a sad look from the mechanic as he asked if I could come back later in the week (it is suppose to warm up to the 40°Fs by Thursday) because all his bays were filled & he didn't want to do the work outside. I suspect at 12°F the plastic lug nut covers would shatter rather than pop off...

Spring Will Happen!

Raised beds? We have a raised front lawn. We have 2 ft of hard packed ice. No need to step down off the porch. I walked across it today with the ladder to clean the stovepipe and didn't sink in a bit. It'll melt eventually and the rhubarb will come up.

Hi: All... If I don't have time to make a Rhubarb Custard Pie with Fluffy Meringue I just stew it and add a can of Pineapple Tid Bits and sweeten to taste. Hope to harvest some when we get home. Alf

Guess you picked the wrong winter to stay home Jon

Unfortunately for those that don't love snow, it really isn't. Average snowfall for Oswego is between 150" & 200" per year. The good thing is it is melting slowly enough that it doesn't look like flooding will be a problem.

Back when I lived in Cortland, NY we had 180" in 1972 (or so) That's why I moved to the mountains in North Carolina where I've already cut my grass twice!!!
