Just for the record, you can adjust the amount of weight distributed with a standard spring bar hitch by changing the number of free chain links and/or adjusting the hitch tilt.
From my (admittedly little) understanding of a traditional WDH and the Andersen hitch, by having minimal weight distribution on the Andersen, I still get full sway and bounce correction, while having only a little weight distribution. I don't think this is the case with a traditional WDH. In that sense my decision was Andersen or nothing. I don't think there is any point in having a traditional WDH and having it set up for minimal weight distribution. That said, I could also be completely wrong in this and I'm sure someone will correct me if that is the case.
I'm still debating the Andersen hitch as the VW has anti-sway control built into it's Brembo braking system and I don't plan on using the hitch for weight distribution as I figure even at max load (4500 lbs/450 lbs on hitch) I'll still be well under the (7,700 lbs / 616 lbs hitch rating of the T'reg so weight distribution is not only not recommended but likely not really needed.
I just think it's probably better to eliminate the sway before it begins (with Andersen hitch) than to control it after the fact with the vehicle's ABS system. It's only a few hundred dollars for the hitch. That's a lot less than the agony, expense, hassle and possible injuries if somehow a trailer manages to go into an uncontrollable sway situation.
