Hello Forom friends. We are new to the scene and plan to buy a 21C. I’m curious what vehicle ya’ll find best for towing?

One of the best things about an Escape is that they tow easily and you really don't need a new $75K semi to pull them. You just need a well maintained reliable vehicle that has adequate load capacity for the tongue weight and good brake action for stopping. A solid 1/2 ton pick up or SUV is generally quite capable of doing what needs to be done.

Congratulations on your decision to buy an Escape! I’m certain you will not be disappointed. As far as a tow vehicle (TV) is concerned, I would start by asking what type of vehicle do you want when not towing? Folks are towing 19s and 21s with everything from Toyota Highlanders and Honda Pilots to Ford F350s. Just make sure you use the GVW of the trailer as your tow weight when comparing tow capacity of the vehicle.

Any truck or midsize SUV "should" be okay. Don't let the dealer tell you the numbers, look them up. They'll say anything to get you into a vehicle.

If you end up 1/2 ton, the tow capacity won't be an issue. But many people overlook "payload", which is how much you can haul in the truck bed, inside the cab, passengers, full fuel tank etc. It gets eaten up quickly on some trucks with low payload #'s.

We tow with a Tundra. It was purchased because I wanted a truck for the family, household/landscaping projects etc. Besides the gas guzzling aspect, it handles towing like a champ.
