Can someone please help or give advice or has done a personal pickup from Chilliwack and then drive it back to one of the Southern States, (Florida )?

The plan is to pick the trailer up and then while up there do some touring of the northern states and then slowly work our way down over 2-3 month period to Florida BUT the problem we have is with vehicle registration. We were advised that we will only get 6 days temporary in Washington state!.

Does any one know if you can get temporary in the other surrounding states like Montana for longer to have more time to get the vehicle south or how is it possible to get the vehicle south with more time than 6 days through the different states ?

Hope someone has done it or someone has advice on how to do it if possible?

kind regards and hope someone can help

I've always gone with the theory that I'd prefer to have something on the back of a vehicle purchased and needing to move a distance to get to where it can be registered. I've used the Washington permit even when out of WA because something is probably better than nothing.

That being said, over the years, there's been many folks that have towed their trailer long distances in the US without anything on the back. Can't recall anyone reporting that they ever got a ticket etc. Before doing that I'd want to make sure that there was insurance coverage on the trailer, even if it wasn't yet registered.

Definitely different folks have different comfort levels about this.

Took delivery in Sumas, vacationed all the way home about 45 days. Carried bill of sale and registered when we got back to Florida. Not a problem for me.

We picked up our first Escape in Sumas and didn't bother to worry about registration much. We even had a state trooper behind us, then he swung around into the next lane and passed us without a second look.
Either he didn't care, or he saw the big "Escape" spare tire cover that clearly says "Made in Canada", so he might not even have been interested in looking after he saw that.

In any event we had no problems. If you do get pulled over, I assume you can just show your purchase and import paperwork and tell him you are on your way back to FL, it's just taking awhile. I can't imagine a police officer or state trooper who wants to get embroiled in writing a citation, having to be available for court, etc. over something you will obviously take care of once you get home.

Congratulations on your new Escape!

When we picked up our trailer in Sumas (2022) we were residents of Florida. We were able to get the necessary paperwork from Escape and obtained FL tags to take with us to Sumas.

Picked up our camper and spent a month driving back to maine…….all we had were temp license plate until we registered it in Maine……..that and paperwork on the purchase……were followed by a trooper in Iowa for 80 miles, and never got stopped on the way home.

The same for us on our 2022 Escape 21C. We are residents of Florida and got our tags before the Escape was delivered. Sometimes it’s about getting the right person at DMV.

I live in Washington State, and was able to pick up the license plate for my trailer before I took delivery in Indiana. The DMV needed the manufacturer's legal name, trailer model and VIN number, cost of trailer, and location of pickup. Florida may offer similar service.

Picked up my 5.0 mid September of last year. Spent a week in Washington and a week in Montana before driving home to Texas. No tag on the trailer for the entire trip. Saw several police officers on the road and never got stopped. I figured if I did I’d show them the paperwork. Took about 2 weeks to get the tags, scheduling an inspection of the VIN and paperwork.
