We put our $$$$ down on a 2020 19 Escape Inventory Unit. We added some extra goodies to it like aluminum rim package, LED light strip, and power jack. We are so excited!! We have been reading the forum for a while now and doing a lot of research. We looked at a 19 last year then a Casita last weekend. Hands down...we kept going back to the 19. We will be doing our last trip in our 10' Canned Ham the first two weeks in June then selling it. It has been fun but we need more room as we have really enjoyed camping!! Hope everyone is staying safe and just wanted to say hello!! We hope to run into some fellow Escape Owners in the future!

Thank u Jim! Question..would you or anyone know the hitch height on a lifted 19? We also ordered the sway bar. I am confused about weight distribution. I was reading the towing forum last night.Sone say you need it some don't. We have a 2018 Ram 1500 2WD. We tow our 17' boat right now with no issues and our little 10' canned ham. Any thoughts?

Do a filter (at the bottom of the page) for Escape 19's to get the average, minimum & maximum tongue weights using the Trailer Weights in the Real World Spreadsheet.

I get an average tongue weight of 466 pounds for a total average weight of 3751 pounds.

My 2016 E19 was 475 loaded/wet and my current E21 is 525 loaded and wet.

That must be with the storage box and contents. My 19 without storage box is around 360-375 loaded, last time I checked.

Yes with storage box, full propane, 1/2 tank fresh water. BTW, my classic 2014 E21 was 500 tongue and 3800 axles loafed for Osoyoos.

We just measured our E21. It was 21.5 with lifted axle. I am thinking it would be the same for a 19 with 15" wheels.

The Escapes are great trailers, best on the market.

I'm hooked on fiberglass, our 5th trailer was a 1977 Trillium 15', our 6th trailer a 2007 Escape 17B, our last trailer is a new Escape 19, waiting for me to come get it. Maybe we'll go get it June. 9000 km road trip London to Chilliwack and back.

Our first major trip will be the Florida Keys, well that's the plan.

We just measured our E21. It was 21.5 with lifted axle. I am thinking it would be the same for a 19 with 15" wheels.

The standard hitch height on E19 and E21 is 19" without the lift option, with the stock tires which are 15". All this information is on the Escape website, available for everyone to see.

This get's a little confusing so you may want to email to be sure you get the right setup.



They list on website at 19" But they do not state If this is to ball mount or top of ball . when i asked about this I was told to the top of the ball. The industry standard to measure to top of ball mount

If the information to the top of the ball is correct .you would have to calculate the distance between top of the ball to the bottom where is mounts .


I plan on talking to the hitching department to clear this up before i buy my ball mount. of course if you have a adjustable mount you can solve this problem by adjusting. I myself prefer a welded on ball with the correct rise or drop. on the welded balls they cannot be removed and there no way for nut to fall off.

The 19" is to the top of the ball. so that when it pops down you are level. That is a common measuring point among hitches. The issue arises when your suspension is soft and the rear of th tow drops more than an 1" and now you are no longer level. So an adjustable ball mount is preferred. Once that height is determined with your tow vehicle it can change later when you fill your propene tanks and water tanks and put your stuff inside. You may have to adjust it again. I always ask the factory to fill my propane and fresh tank to get a idea of the tongue weight. You may want to invest in a Sherline tongue scale, hint get the 1000 lb model. You will be using it a lot before each trip to help with proper loading.

You can always drill a hole thru the ball shank and wire or pin the nut on if that concerns you.
