I've been enjoying reading all the posts. After checking out a 19' @ Eggscursion, I changed my requirements up from the 17b. That made me examine my future TV. Yesterday, we picked up a new GMC Acadia - 5200 tow capacity. Now we can finalize the 19' options. Hopefully a business trip to BC is in the cards. Hope to order with a completion during the (reduced cost) winter. Can't wait to join the Escape community.

Welcome to the forum and our "Escape World", what options are you contemplating? Any questions, please ask. Glad you came to the "Eggscursion", we all had a nice time.

Now that you got the TV, are you going for satellite or cable ready or airwaves?

This is my TV, as nature intended.

I'm at the very early stage. I've got my list of A - must have, B - nice to have, C - a luxury. Some items will move from B to A if they improve resale value and ease of selling in the future.Sometimes it's just the "use of cash" for the short term, pays back in the long term.

What you are saying, is that you will find a way to justify these options either way. I think we all do that. ;)

OK - today I pulled the plug and placed my order for a 19' - early 2014! Just at the early stages of options, but looking at Solar with various energy saving options, AC, insullation pkg, extra opening windows in bath & over sink, dual 6V batteries, aluminum rims (just because!), etc. Couple questions for those reading - how much value in spray foam? I live in the south and am more concerned with high temps than cold. Also is the surge protector just that or is it more than just to prevent damage due to surges? Thanks for everyones posts - I will keep reading and adjusting my final build throughout the year!

Congrats Kevin on the order, we're hoping to order a 19 or 5.0 for late fall delivery. Need a TV as well, had not considered the Acadia. I know you've only had it five days but how is it? We were just in your state a couple of weeks ago, visiting in Hope Mills, it's really beautiful there, just wish the weather had been nicer - especially at the beach - really winter and chilly!

Good for you, Kevin! Those aluminum rims look nice.

Don't know if I'd get foam for hot weather. It adds a lot of weight so that is a consideration. Could be 90 lbs.

An EMS will protect the A/C when everyone is running it at the campground at the same time. I am not aware that the surge protector does that.

I did not see EMS listed under options. Does the factory converter come with Electrical Management System built in?

Spray foam complements the insulation package, warm walls, warm floor. If cold is not an issue I'd skip both of those options. I's also skip the dual 6 volts and go with single 12v until you determine your needs. Assuming you will be hooked with with a/c means your non electric needs are minimal. Not familiar with factory Escape's surge protector, here is the one I am familiar with
Progressive Industries 30 Amp Electrical Management System - Hardwire from tweetys.com
it does a lot more than surge protection, read on.

Since your tow vehicle is not a truck, you might want to consider the front storage box for those messy things you don't want to put in the trailer or tow vehicle.

If the surge protector Escape installs is the Progressive EMS-HW30C, it detects reverse polarity, under/over voltages, open ground, etc. It does not correct for low voltages like a autoformer, but just shuts down the power. I added one to my 17B and it has shut down the power to the trailer 3 times so far.

Yes Jon, that is the surge protector that escape using in my 19.
I had to get the alloy rims too! I have ordered the insulation pkg but not the spray foam. A friend in Santa Fe has a 17 and the insulation really works well for heat. So far he hasn't needed a/c.

So far the car seems really good. The basic SLE-1 model had all the options that we needed. The Arcadia is rated 5200 # while the Terrain is rated for 3500#, but EPA mileage is a little better. I had $3200 off for GM bucks, so it made sense to go with GM.

And finally our build has begun. Saw Jim's 19 at Eggscursion in April, purchased the Tow Vehicle 2 weeks later and ordered our Escape 19' on May 13th. Week 1 pictures to follow.
