U-Shaped Dinette in Escape 17

I was wondering if anyone on here has the U-shaped dinette option in a 17 foot Escape? I like the flexibility that it would offer as far as lounging around, but wonder if it makes things too crowded on that end in the 17 foot version? I know that you end up with a smaller table and am OK with that. Thanks for any input you can offer.

The 5.0 classic is the same as the 17' from the door back and the U-shaped dinette was standard on it.

Thanks Barry, that is good information that I did not know. Found some pictures of the classic 5.0 on here, and it looks like it will work well. Anything you don't like about it on yours?

I had the u-shaped option chosen for our 19 but changed back to the standard at the last minute. It was because of a post about it being a tight squeeze for 4 adults. I also think it will be nice to have a larger table. We don't mind lounging in the bed but I know some would rather not. Anyway hope we made the right decision for us. I had already sent enough material for the u-shape so now I have a lot of throw pillow material.

Yep, I saw that same post, which is why I was asking. We just think we will like the flexibility of either having a dinette, or if we want to take the table down, it will be basically like having a sectional sofa.

If I was going to buy a new trailer, I would purchase a 19 with the bed & dinette reversed. That makes a smaller 3/4 bed (since I travel alone, no problem) and allows the u-shaped dinette and larger table in the rear. It also solves the "view" complaint some have made in that the best view is usually out the back of the trailer rather than the front...

My wife and I prefer the U-dinette because it is less utilitarian looking and cozier feeling, plus when the table is removed it makes a nice lounging area. Having said that the table was a bit small for us so I added a flip up extension on the back so when we eat inside we just have to flip it up for more table room. All other times we keep it flipped down which makes entering and exiting the area easier.

Even though we are getting a 21, the two hardest decisions on the trailer were the Andersen hitch and the U-shaped dinette. Cathy felt she would like the bigger table where I felt the U-shape would add more of a finished look to the rear of the trailer. Anyway, we ended up ordering the U-dinette. I hope the table will be big enough. Loren

In retrospect, having spent quite a bit of time in the 19, If I were doing it again, I'd probably forego the U-shaped dinette unless I was getting a 21 or a 5.0TA. IMHO there's not 'quite' enough room in the dinette of the smaller trailers to take full advantage of the U-shape. No regrets about ours, especially since we installed a different pedestal that allows the table to swivel, but to make it a true 'lounge' area, the few extra inches of depth and width makes a big difference. The U-shape in a 21 and a 5.0TA is just great.

We also ordered the u-shaped dinette and got the Springfield pedestal that will allow for an easy swap of dining table to lounge... or a bed if needed. We felt that we would primarily be just the 2 of us, and if the table isn't quite large enough we also ordered the 2 side tables that flip up that could be used.

I like my u shape dinette. And I did put the springfield table in. It does make the table much more functional and easier to lower into bed. Being rather short at 5'2" I find it very easy to use for lounging, great place to sit and read!

Really only thing I would have done differently is, I would have put cabinet door on front bench. Still may do that!

I ended up with lots of extras, and I am happy I ordered them, rather than thinking about adding them later. One other after option I did was the tadi brother backup camera, which I had installed at best buy, one of tadi brothers recommended installers in my area.

It's just the 2 of us to table size is not a problem and being on the Springfield pedestal makes getting in and out easy, even to the very back. When I want to lounge or watch a DVD it's simple to lower the table, spread out the cushions and enjoy.
