Understanding Escape History/Recalls/Differences Between Model Years

I’m late to this thread, very late, but we own a 2009 E19. I’m thankful that my husband is handy and has made all sorts of great mods over the years and has fixed all minor things that have come up.
Some things we’re addressing this spring are the counter and table tops are delaminating, and there are areas that the foam wall covering is coming unglued. We’ve decided to redo the table and counter laminate, and possibly replace the stove, and sink to update the look. We’ll also re-glue the wall covering in the only place it really shows which is inside the back over-the-bed cabinets. Lastly, install some new Pergo type wood look laminate flooring on top of the old. Our refrigerator works pretty well, but that’s going to be an issue in our future I believe. We may travel this year with a back-up portable fridge/freezer in the bed of our truck (Ford PowerBoost)—and see how that goes.
We still love our older Escape with no plans to replace it, just love it.

Welcome to the forum Ellen. Always nice to have some historical perspective.

Your fridge is a real survivor. Those older fridges were either love them or hate them. We never had one fail completely but it was hit or miss a couple of times. The new ones are great by comparison.

I think the aircraft style door on the early/earlier Escape models would be worthy of thought...as long as you're wondering. The new style flat doors accommodate hinged screen doors along with a few other benefits.

and the aircraft doors came with a sliding roller screen, quite effective. I recently replaced the roller cartridge on my 2014, they are still available from the US subsidiary of the Japanese manufacturer.
