We've been lurking on the BBS for the last couple months. We're avid campers, and we've spent the last 20 years tenting it. We're finally at the age (41) where we've had enough of lying on the ground :)

I tend to research and build spreadsheets when I spend money on anything over $500, so I've spent the last 6-8 months visiting dealers, watching factory tours, and finding out as much as I can on how trailers are made. It was only after I visited a Lance/Bigfoot dealer that I started looking deeper into fiberglass trailers and discovered Escape. Which is odd since its only a 30 min drive from where I live.

I was settled on the 19, and my wife and I went to look at them in person on Monday, and now we're leaning towards the 21. We have a golden retriever who likes to share a bed, so I figured the Queen in the 19 would be the only choice, but the 21 just has so much more space that the Golden will have to sleep ono the floor :)

Our tow vehicle is a 2016 Kia Sorento EX+ with a GVWR of 5560, at least until the Model X or Rivian R1S comes down in price :)

Just wanted to say thanks for the great community, its made my decisions that much more final. It's just a matter of when now, we're hoping to have a trailer by summer.

Welcome to the forum. Only a few dates left if you want the trailer by summer, if you are going with new.

Thanks. I plan to meet with the bank after xmas and get all of that jazz finalized and then I'll reach out to Escape. Our only planned trip so far is our annual trip to Green point on the island in August.

No longer wannabe's. We just put down a deposit for a 21 with a completion date of May 2nd, now we have 2 weeks to get a build sheet done :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no doubt you will love your new home on wheels, yes it does beat sleeping on the ground and little better when it rains too. We are like many, went from tent, to Class B, to Casita and now convinced I have the last trailer I will ever own, unless we win the lottery I guess. But even then we would always keep our Grover we love our Escape.

Enjoy the journey.

Steve

I doubt it, we're rather introverted. We'll likely stick close to home this summer, and we'll see what next year brings. I believe my daughters high school grad is that weekend anyway.

Thanks Steve. We're really looking forward to it! Although I'll admit, I have some serious nerves about pulling a trailer. I might see if they have some classes nearby.

Although certain configurations are rated at 5000# towing it appears a 2016 Sorento EX trim with 2.0L turbo has a towing capacity of only 3,500#. If this is indeed what you have it is inadequate for towing a new 21.

Ours is the AWD V6 which is rated for 5000. Although, hopefully it ends up being fine otherwise I guess i'll be trading it in soon.
